Search OT Jobs in PennsylvaniaOT Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies sponsor visas for OTs in Pennsylvania?
The largest sponsors of occupational therapy visas in Pennsylvania include UPMC, Penn Medicine, Jefferson Health, Temple Health, and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Large health systems and academic medical centers file H-1B petitions most consistently because they have established immigration compliance teams. Outpatient rehabilitation networks and skilled nursing facilities also sponsor OTs, though less frequently than major hospital systems.
Which visa types are most common for OT roles in Pennsylvania?
The H-1B is the most common visa for occupational therapists in Pennsylvania, as OT qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a master's degree. Some internationally trained OTs also enter on TN visas if they hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship. EB-3 green card sponsorship is pursued by some Pennsylvania health systems for long-term hires, particularly in high-need facilities.
Which cities in Pennsylvania have the most OT sponsorship jobs?
Philadelphia has the highest concentration of OT sponsorship opportunities in Pennsylvania, driven by its density of academic medical centers and specialty hospitals. Pittsburgh is a strong second, primarily through the UPMC network. Harrisburg, Allentown, and Scranton have smaller but active OT job markets, particularly in outpatient and home health settings serving regional populations.
How to find ot visa sponsorship jobs in Pennsylvania?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters OT roles in Pennsylvania by visa sponsorship availability, saving significant time compared to general job searches. You can browse current openings from Pennsylvania health systems and outpatient providers that have confirmed sponsorship history. Filtering by city within Pennsylvania lets you target Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, or other regional markets based on your preferences.
Are there state-specific considerations for OTs seeking sponsorship in Pennsylvania?
Pennsylvania requires OTs to hold a state license from the Pennsylvania State Board of Occupational Therapy Education and Licensure before practicing. International applicants must have their foreign credentials evaluated for equivalency. The state's large number of teaching hospitals affiliated with institutions like Temple, Jefferson, and Drexel creates consistent hiring pipelines for internationally trained OTs, particularly in Philadelphia.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored ot jobs in Pennsylvania?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
