Which companies sponsor visas for speech language pathologists in Pennsylvania?
Major Pennsylvania health systems including UPMC, Penn Medicine, Jefferson Health, and Geisinger have histories of sponsoring work visas for speech language pathologists. School districts in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, as well as rehabilitation groups like Encompass Health, also appear in sponsorship filings. Sponsorship decisions are employer-specific and vary by facility, so confirming directly with each hiring team is essential.
Which visa types are most common for speech language pathology roles in Pennsylvania?
The H-1B visa is the most common route for international speech language pathologists in Pennsylvania, as SLP positions at the master's degree level typically satisfy the specialty occupation requirement. Employers filing a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor is a required step. Some employers pursue EB-3 permanent residence sponsorship for longer-term hires, particularly within large hospital networks.
Which cities in Pennsylvania have the most speech language pathology sponsorship jobs?
Philadelphia and Pittsburgh generate the greatest concentration of speech language pathology sponsorship opportunities, driven by their dense networks of academic medical centers, children's hospitals, and large school systems. Harrisburg, Allentown, and State College also have notable demand through regional health systems and university affiliated clinics, offering viable options beyond the two major metros.
How to find speech language pathology visa sponsorship jobs in Pennsylvania?
Migrate Mate is a job board built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship, and it filters roles by occupation and state. Searching for speech language pathology positions in Pennsylvania on Migrate Mate surfaces employers who have indicated sponsorship willingness, saving time compared to manually researching individual hospital or school district career pages. Pairing that search with ASHA's career center can also help identify Pennsylvania-specific openings.
Are there state-specific requirements international SLPs should know before pursuing Pennsylvania sponsorship jobs?
Pennsylvania requires speech language pathologists to hold a state license issued by the Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs. International candidates typically need ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) and may need credential evaluation if their degree was earned outside the United States. Employers generally initiate H-1B sponsorship only after confirming licensure eligibility, so beginning the Pennsylvania licensing process early is advisable.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored speech language pathology jobs in Pennsylvania?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
