Which consulting companies sponsor H-1B visas in Puerto Rico?
The most active H-1B sponsors in Puerto Rico's consulting sector include the Big Four accounting and advisory firms, Deloitte, PricewaterhouseCoopers, KPMG, and Ernst & Young, along with global management consultancies such as Accenture. Federal contractors operating on the island, including firms supporting government modernization and infrastructure projects, also file H-1B Labor Condition Applications for consulting roles. Sponsorship activity is verified through DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data.
Which cities in Puerto Rico have the most consulting H-1B sponsorship jobs?
San Juan is by far the primary market for consulting H-1B sponsorship jobs in Puerto Rico, as it hosts the island's main corporate headquarters, financial district, and federal agency offices. Guaynabo and Bayamón, located within the greater San Juan metropolitan area, also have employer presences. Most H-1B Labor Condition Applications filed for Puerto Rico consulting roles list San Juan or adjacent municipalities as the worksite location.
What types of consulting roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship applies to specialty occupation roles that require at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. In consulting, qualifying positions commonly include management consultant, strategy analyst, IT consultant, financial advisory consultant, tax consultant, and technology implementation specialist. Roles where a specific degree is a genuine requirement of the job, rather than a general preference, are most clearly eligible. USCIS evaluates each petition based on the specific duties and degree requirements of the position.
How do I find consulting H-1B sponsorship jobs in Puerto Rico?
Migrate Mate filters consulting job listings specifically by H-1B sponsorship history, so you can see which Puerto Rico employers have filed Labor Condition Applications for consulting roles rather than relying on self-reported sponsorship claims. Search by the consulting and professional services industry category and select Puerto Rico to narrow results. This approach surfaces employers with a verified record of sponsoring H-1B workers in consulting, making your outreach more targeted and efficient.
Are there any Puerto Rico-specific considerations for H-1B consulting sponsorship?
Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory, so H-1B rules, USCIS filing requirements, and DOL prevailing wage obligations apply in the same way they do on the U.S. mainland. Employers must pay the prevailing wage for the specific consulting role and location, which can differ from mainland metro benchmarks, you can verify applicable wage levels using the OFLC Wage Search tool. Federal contractors on the island may also be subject to additional compliance requirements tied to government contracts, which can affect sponsorship timelines.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B consulting jobs in Puerto Rico?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
