Which companies sponsor visas for manufacturing technicians in South Carolina?
BMW Manufacturing in Spartanburg, Boeing in North Charleston, Michelin in Greenville and Lexington counties, and Bosch in Anderson have all filed Labor Condition Applications for manufacturing and production technician roles. These are large multinational employers with established HR and immigration infrastructure, which generally makes them more likely to pursue visa sponsorship than smaller regional manufacturers.
Which visa types are most common for manufacturing technician roles in South Carolina?
The H-1B is the most common work visa for manufacturing technicians, but it requires the role to qualify as a specialty occupation, meaning a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field is typically required. Roles in quality engineering, process engineering, and advanced manufacturing technology more reliably meet that standard. The TN visa is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering technician categories under USMCA.
Which cities in South Carolina have the most manufacturing technician sponsorship jobs?
The Upstate region, particularly Spartanburg and Greenville, leads the state for manufacturing technician hiring due to the concentration of automotive and tire manufacturing plants. North Charleston is the second major hub, driven by Boeing's commercial aircraft facility. Columbia and Anderson also have active manufacturing operations, with suppliers and contract manufacturers contributing additional technician demand across those areas.
How to find manufacturing technician visa sponsorship jobs in South Carolina?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for roles where employers have indicated visa sponsorship availability, including manufacturing technician positions in South Carolina. Rather than sorting through general job boards, you can search directly for sponsorship-eligible roles in Upstate SC, North Charleston, and surrounding manufacturing corridors. Migrate Mate's database is particularly useful for identifying which employers are actively hiring internationally for technical production roles.
Are there state-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for manufacturing technicians in South Carolina?
South Carolina's heavy concentration of German and European automotive and industrial manufacturers, including BMW and Bosch, means many employers already have experience sponsoring international workers and coordinating with immigration counsel. Clemson University's automotive engineering programs and Greenville Technical College create a regional pipeline that some employers supplement with international hires when specialized technical skills are in short supply. Prevailing wage requirements apply statewide and vary by county and specific job title.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored manufacturing technician jobs in South Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
