Which companies sponsor visas for software engineer AIs in South Carolina?
Employers with established sponsorship histories in South Carolina include Bosch (with engineering operations in Anderson), Infor (enterprise software, Columbia), and Michelin's North America headquarters in Greenville. Financial technology firms in the Charleston area have also filed H-1B visa petitions for software and AI engineering roles. Sponsoring employers tend to be larger multinationals or tech-forward manufacturers rather than small startups.
Which visa types are most common for software engineer AI roles in South Carolina?
The H-1B is the most common visa for software engineer AI positions in South Carolina. These roles qualify as specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field. Candidates with extraordinary ability may pursue the O-1A. International graduates on F-1 OPT, including the 24-month STEM OPT extension, often work in these roles while pursuing H-1B sponsorship.
How to find software engineer ai visa sponsorship jobs in South Carolina?

The platform surfaces companies with documented sponsorship histories, making it easier to target your applications toward employers actively hiring international candidates in this field. Searching by state and role on Migrate Mate saves significant time compared to unfiltered job searches.
Which cities in South Carolina have the most software engineer AI sponsorship jobs?
Greenville is South Carolina's strongest market for software engineer AI sponsorship, driven by Michelin's North America headquarters and a cluster of advanced manufacturing companies investing in AI-driven engineering tools. Columbia, the state capital, supports tech roles through government contracting and enterprise software firms. Charleston is an emerging tech hub with growing fintech and defense-sector employers posting AI engineering roles.
Are there any state-specific factors that affect software engineer AI visa sponsorship in South Carolina?
South Carolina's AI software engineering market leans heavily on manufacturing, automotive, and defense sectors, which shapes the types of AI roles sponsored. Employers in these industries typically prefer candidates with machine learning or computer vision experience applied to industrial contexts. Clemson University and the University of South Carolina produce local graduate talent, and some employers recruit internationally when specialized AI skills are scarce domestically, making sponsorship more common at the senior level.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software engineer ai jobs in South Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
