Which companies in South Carolina sponsor visas for software product managers?
Blackbaud and Benefitfocus, both headquartered in Charleston, have established records of H-1B visa sponsorship for technical product roles. Larger employers with South Carolina operations, including Bosch, BMW's IT division in Spartanburg, and several defense and healthcare technology contractors in the Columbia area, also sponsor software product managers. Sponsorship frequency varies by company size, hiring cycle, and the seniority of the role.
Which visa types are most common for software product manager roles in South Carolina?
The H-1B is the most widely used visa for software product managers in South Carolina, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or a related field. Candidates from Australia may qualify for the E-3 visa, and Canadian and Mexican nationals may be eligible for TN visa status under the USMCA. L-1 visa transfers are also an option for candidates already employed by a multinational with U.S. operations.
Which cities in South Carolina have the most software product manager visa sponsorship jobs?
Charleston is the most active market, driven by a growing fintech and enterprise software cluster anchored by companies like Blackbaud and Benefitfocus. Columbia, as the state capital and home to the University of South Carolina, supports a mix of government technology contractors and healthcare IT employers. Greenville and Spartanburg have seen increased demand from advanced manufacturing and automotive technology companies with dedicated product and software teams.
How to find software product manager visa sponsorship jobs in South Carolina?
Migrate Mate is designed specifically for international candidates seeking visa-sponsored roles and filters software product manager positions by state, including South Carolina. Rather than sorting through thousands of unfiltered postings, you can browse roles where employers have indicated sponsorship willingness. Migrate Mate also surfaces context about visa types relevant to your background, making it easier to identify opportunities that match your eligibility.
Are there any state-specific considerations for software product managers seeking visa sponsorship in South Carolina?
South Carolina's tech sector is smaller than coastal hubs like California or New York, which means the pool of actively sponsoring employers is more concentrated. The University of South Carolina and Clemson University generate a steady pipeline of local technical talent, so international candidates often benefit from emphasizing specialized experience in areas like B2B SaaS, defense technology, or automotive software that local candidates may have less exposure to. Prevailing wage requirements apply statewide under Department of Labor rules regardless of city.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software product manager jobs in South Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
