Which companies sponsor visas for software product managers in California?
Large tech companies are the most consistent sponsors for software product managers in California. Google, Apple, Meta, Salesforce, Adobe, Nvidia, and Intuit have all filed significant numbers of H-1B petitions for product management roles. Mid-size SaaS companies and enterprise software firms based in Silicon Valley and Los Angeles also sponsor regularly, though the process varies by company size and hiring volume.
Which visa types are most common for software product manager roles in California?
The H-1B is the most common visa for software product managers in California. The role generally qualifies as a specialty occupation because it typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field. Candidates with extraordinary achievements may pursue the O-1A. Canadians and Mexicans may qualify under TN status in the management consultant category, though eligibility depends on specific job duties.
Which cities in California have the most software product manager sponsorship jobs?
The San Francisco Bay Area, including San Jose, Mountain View, Sunnyvale, and San Francisco itself, concentrates the highest volume of sponsored software product manager roles due to the density of major tech headquarters. Los Angeles has a growing tech and entertainment-tech sector with increasing sponsorship activity. San Diego is a smaller but active market, particularly in biotech software and defense technology companies.
How to find software product manager visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to browse software product manager openings in California without sorting through roles that won't consider international candidates. The platform covers employers across the Bay Area, Los Angeles, and San Diego, so you can focus your applications on companies that have an established track record of sponsoring work visas for product management roles.
Are there any California-specific considerations for software product managers seeking visa sponsorship?
California's prevailing wage requirements apply to H-1B positions, meaning employers must pay at or above the Department of Labor's determined wage for the specific role and metropolitan area. Bay Area prevailing wages for software product managers are among the highest in the country given local market rates. California's concentration of top computer science programs at UC Berkeley, Stanford, UCLA, and USC also creates a competitive applicant pool, particularly among candidates on OPT.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software product manager jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
