Which companies sponsor visas for OTs in Tennessee?
Large health systems with established immigration infrastructure are the most active sponsors. Vanderbilt University Medical Center, HCA Healthcare, and Regional One Health in Memphis have each sponsored occupational therapists for work visas in recent years. Rehabilitation-focused employers such as Encompass Health, which operates multiple Tennessee facilities, also appear in Department of Labor sponsorship records for OT roles.
Which visa types are most common for OT roles in Tennessee?
The H-1B is the most common visa for occupational therapists, as OT qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a master's degree under current AOTA and ACOTE standards. The EB-3 employment-based green card is a common longer-term pathway, particularly for employers willing to begin PERM labor certification. Some international OTs also enter through J-1 visa exchange visitor programs tied to clinical training placements.
Which cities in Tennessee have the most OT sponsorship jobs?
Nashville concentrates the highest volume of OT sponsorship opportunities, driven by the density of hospital systems and rehabilitation providers headquartered there. Memphis is a strong second, supported by large academic medical centers and pediatric facilities including Le Bonheur Children's Hospital. Chattanooga and Knoxville also show consistent demand, particularly through regional hospital networks and outpatient rehabilitation clinics.
How to find ot visa sponsorship jobs in Tennessee?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters OT roles in Tennessee by visa sponsorship eligibility, saving significant time compared to manually reviewing general job postings. On Migrate Mate, you can browse current openings across Nashville, Memphis, and Chattanooga, view employer sponsorship history, and identify which Tennessee health systems are actively hiring OTs who require visa support.
Are there state-specific considerations for OTs seeking sponsorship in Tennessee?
Tennessee requires occupational therapists to hold a state license issued by the Tennessee Board of Occupational Therapy. International applicants must have their credentials evaluated for equivalency before a license is granted, which can affect start date timelines and should be factored into any sponsorship arrangement. Tennessee's relatively lower cost of living compared to coastal states can make the prevailing wage calculation more attainable for employers initiating sponsorship.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored ot jobs in Tennessee?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
