Which companies sponsor visas for OTs in New Mexico?
The most active sponsors for occupational therapists in New Mexico include Presbyterian Healthcare Services, University of New Mexico Hospital, Lovelace Health System, and the Albuquerque Public Schools district. Long-term care facilities and rehabilitation centers operated by larger national providers such as Encompass Health also appear in H-1B disclosure data for New Mexico OT roles.
Which visa types are most common for OT roles in New Mexico?
The H-1B is the most common visa for occupational therapists in New Mexico, as OT roles qualify as specialty occupations requiring at least a master's degree. Some internationally trained OTs also enter on TN visas if they hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship, provided they meet the OT-specific credential requirements under USMCA. EB-3 immigrant visas are another pathway for permanent roles.
How to find ot visa sponsorship jobs in New Mexico?
Migrate Mate filters occupational therapy job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability and state, making it straightforward to browse OT roles in New Mexico without sifting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. You can narrow results to New Mexico and review which employers have an active history of sponsoring international OTs, saving significant time in your search.
Which cities in New Mexico have the most OT sponsorship jobs?
Albuquerque accounts for the large majority of OT sponsorship opportunities in New Mexico, given its concentration of major hospital systems, rehabilitation centers, and school districts. Santa Fe has a smaller but consistent demand, particularly in community health and pediatric settings. Rural areas such as Gallup and Las Cruces occasionally post sponsored OT roles tied to Indian Health Service facilities and border health programs.
Are there any state-specific considerations for OTs seeking visa sponsorship in New Mexico?
New Mexico requires occupational therapists to hold a state license through the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department before practicing, and international applicants must have their foreign credentials evaluated for equivalency. The Indian Health Service operates multiple facilities in New Mexico and is a federal employer that sponsors OTs, which can provide an alternative pathway outside the H-1B lottery for qualifying candidates.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored ot jobs in New Mexico?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
