Which companies in Tennessee sponsor visas for product software engineers?
Several large Tennessee employers have a track record of sponsoring work visas for product software engineers. HCA Healthcare and Change Healthcare in Nashville regularly file H-1B petitions for technology roles. Asurion, one of Nashville's largest tech employers, also sponsors international engineers. Oak Ridge National Laboratory near Knoxville hires product-focused engineers and has mechanisms for sponsoring foreign nationals in technical positions.
Which visa types are most common for product software engineer roles in Tennessee?
The H-1B visa is the most common sponsorship path for product software engineers in Tennessee, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. Some candidates enter through OPT or STEM OPT extensions before transitioning to H-1B sponsorship. L-1B visas apply for intracompany transfers bringing specialized product engineering knowledge to a U.S. office.
How to find product software engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Tennessee?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to identify product software engineer roles in Tennessee where employers are open to sponsoring international candidates. You can search by state and role to surface openings at companies like HCA Healthcare, Asurion, and other Tennessee-based technology employers without having to manually screen each posting for sponsorship language.
Which cities in Tennessee have the most product software engineer sponsorship jobs?
Nashville is by far the strongest market for product software engineers seeking sponsorship in Tennessee, driven by its concentration of healthcare IT, fintech, and enterprise software companies. Knoxville has a smaller but active market tied to Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the University of Tennessee's research programs, and defense contractors. Memphis has emerging opportunities in logistics technology, though its sponsorship volume is more limited than Nashville.
Are there any Tennessee-specific considerations for product software engineers pursuing visa sponsorship?
Tennessee has no state income tax on wages, which affects how employers calculate total compensation packages but does not change federal H-1B prevailing wage obligations. The University of Tennessee and Vanderbilt University produce graduates who feed into local hiring pipelines, so competition for sponsored roles can be meaningful at entry level. Healthcare IT is disproportionately represented in Tennessee's tech sector, so product software engineers with experience in health systems or HIPAA-regulated environments are particularly sought after by sponsoring employers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored product software engineer jobs in Tennessee?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
