Which companies sponsor visas for civil project managers in Texas?
Large engineering and infrastructure firms are the most consistent sponsors for civil project manager roles in Texas. AECOM, Jacobs, Kimley-Horn, Parsons, Burns & McDonnell, and Halff Associates have all filed Labor Condition Applications for civil project management positions in the state. Public agencies and large contractors involved in Texas Department of Transportation projects also hire internationally, though sponsorship availability varies by project pipeline and hiring cycle.
Which visa types are most common for civil project manager roles in Texas?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa category for civil project managers in Texas, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field. The TN visa is an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals with a civil engineering degree. The O-1A is available for candidates with an exceptional record of achievement in the field, though it requires significant documentation.
Which cities in Texas have the most civil project manager sponsorship jobs?
Houston leads the state for civil project manager sponsorship activity, anchored by major transportation, energy infrastructure, and port expansion projects. Dallas-Fort Worth is a close second, with significant highway, transit, and commercial development work. Austin has seen strong growth tied to population-driven infrastructure demand. San Antonio also generates steady hiring, particularly for water, drainage, and municipal infrastructure projects managed by large engineering firms.
How to find civil project manager visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it easier to identify civil project manager roles in Texas without sorting through positions that don't offer international hiring support. You can search by role and state to see which Texas employers are actively sponsoring. Focusing on firms with a history of H-1B filings in civil engineering, particularly those with active TxDOT or municipal contracts, improves your chances of finding a genuine sponsorship opportunity.
Are there any Texas-specific considerations for civil project managers seeking sponsorship?
Texas has no state income tax, which affects prevailing wage calculations under the Labor Condition Application process since wage benchmarks are set by the Department of Labor using regional data, not tax treatment. The state's scale of infrastructure investment, including ongoing TxDOT highway expansions and flood control programs post-Hurricane Harvey, means demand for experienced civil project managers remains strong. Candidates with licensure as a Professional Engineer in Texas or progress toward it are viewed more favorably by sponsoring employers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored civil project manager jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
