Which companies sponsor visas for civil project managers in Tennessee?
Large engineering and construction firms with established Tennessee offices are the most consistent sponsors. AECOM, Jacobs, Burns & McDonnell, and Kimley-Horn have all filed H-1B visa petitions for civil project management roles in the state. Public-sector contractors working on TDOT highway and bridge programs also sponsor regularly, particularly when specialized geotechnical or transportation planning expertise is required.
Which visa types are most common for civil project manager roles in Tennessee?
The H-1B is the most common visa for civil project managers in Tennessee, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify for the TN visa under the NAFTA successor agreement, which covers engineers and avoids the H-1B lottery entirely. Some applicants also enter through L-1 visa transfers within multinational firms.
Which cities in Tennessee have the most civil project manager sponsorship jobs?
Nashville leads the state by a significant margin, driven by ongoing transit expansion, mixed-use development, and highway corridor projects. Knoxville sees consistent demand tied to University of Tennessee research infrastructure and Oak Ridge-area federal contracts. Memphis generates civil project manager openings through port logistics, freight corridor upgrades, and municipal utility work. Chattanooga is a smaller but active market for transportation and environmental engineering roles.
How to find civil project manager visa sponsorship jobs in Tennessee?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for roles where employers have a verified history of visa sponsorship, saving you from applying to positions that won't support international candidates. For civil project manager roles in Tennessee, you can search by state and job title to surface openings at firms like AECOM, Jacobs, and regional engineering consultancies actively hiring across Nashville, Knoxville, and Memphis.
Are there state-specific factors that affect civil project manager sponsorship in Tennessee?
Tennessee's accelerating infrastructure spend, including federally funded highway and broadband projects, has increased demand for experienced civil project managers beyond what the local workforce can supply, which supports sponsorship willingness among employers. The state has no income tax, which affects how employers structure compensation packages. Tennessee also has several civil engineering programs at UT Knoxville and Vanderbilt that create a domestic pipeline, so international candidates typically need demonstrable project delivery experience to be competitive.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored civil project manager jobs in Tennessee?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
