Which companies sponsor visas for civil project managers in North Carolina?
Engineering and construction firms with active North Carolina operations are the most consistent sponsors for civil project manager roles. Companies like Kimley-Horn (headquartered in Raleigh), Balfour Beatty, Skanska, and AECOM have filed H-1B visa petitions for civil and project management positions. State DOT contractors and infrastructure consultancies working on NCDOT projects also represent a meaningful share of sponsoring employers in this role category.
Which visa types are most common for civil project manager roles in North Carolina?
The H-1B visa is the most common pathway for civil project managers in North Carolina, provided the role requires a bachelor's degree or higher in civil engineering or a related field and meets specialty occupation criteria. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify under the TN visa category, as civil engineers are explicitly listed as a qualifying TN profession. Some roles at multinational firms may also support L-1 visa transfers for intracompany managers.
Which cities in North Carolina have the most civil project manager sponsorship jobs?
Raleigh and Charlotte account for the largest concentration of civil project manager sponsorship activity in North Carolina. Raleigh benefits from its proximity to Research Triangle Park and state government infrastructure contracts, while Charlotte's rapid urban growth is fueling commercial and transportation development. Durham and Greensboro also see consistent demand, particularly from firms engaged in utility and transit infrastructure work across the Piedmont region.
How to find civil project manager visa sponsorship jobs in North Carolina?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to identify civil project manager roles in North Carolina where employers are open to sponsoring international candidates. Rather than sorting through general job boards, you can search by role and state to surface positions from engineering firms, construction contractors, and infrastructure consultancies that have a documented history of sponsoring civil project management talent.
Are there any state-specific factors that affect civil project manager visa sponsorship in North Carolina?
North Carolina's sustained infrastructure investment, including NCDOT highway programs and municipal water system upgrades, keeps demand for civil project managers consistently active. Firms bidding on federally funded projects must comply with Davis-Bacon prevailing wage requirements, which align with H-1B prevailing wage obligations and can simplify wage compliance for sponsors. NC State and UNC Charlotte engineering programs also create local pipelines that some firms supplement by sponsoring experienced international candidates for senior PM roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored civil project manager jobs in North Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
