Which cybersecurity companies sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas in Texas?
Texas-based employers with documented F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship history in cybersecurity include Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, AT&T, Dell Technologies, USAA, and Amazon Web Services. Defense contractors clustered around San Antonio's military bases and financial services firms in Dallas have been consistent STEM OPT sponsors. Reviewing DOL Labor Condition Application disclosure data can help you identify which specific employers have filed for cybersecurity roles.
Which cities in Texas have the most cybersecurity F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Austin leads Texas for cybersecurity sponsorship jobs due to its concentration of tech companies and cloud security operations. Dallas-Fort Worth follows closely, driven by financial services firms and large enterprise IT departments. San Antonio has a distinct advantage: it hosts more cybersecurity operations tied to U.S. military installations than almost any other U.S. city, including NSA Texas and JBSA, creating consistent demand for cleared and non-cleared security roles.
What types of cybersecurity roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
Roles that typically qualify are those classified under STEM-designated CIP codes and listed in SOC categories such as Information Security Analysts (SOC 15-1212) and Software Developers with a security focus. In practice, this covers positions like security operations center analyst, penetration tester, cloud security engineer, application security engineer, and threat intelligence analyst. Your offer letter's job title and SOC code both need to align with your degree's CIP code for STEM OPT eligibility.
How do I find cybersecurity F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and surfaces cybersecurity roles in Texas where employers have verified F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship history drawn from DOL filing data. You can filter by state, visa type, and industry to see positions at Texas employers who have actually sponsored international candidates in cybersecurity. This is more targeted than general job searches because sponsorship history is verified, not self-reported.
Are there any state-specific or industry-specific considerations for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in Texas cybersecurity?
Security clearances are a meaningful factor in Texas cybersecurity hiring, particularly in San Antonio and the Dallas-Fort Worth defense corridor. Many roles at defense contractors require U.S. citizenship for clearance eligibility, which can limit F-1 STEM OPT candidates to non-cleared commercial or contractor support roles. Separately, Texas has no state income tax, which affects compensation comparisons. STEM OPT employers must also be enrolled in E-Verify, a requirement enforced regardless of state.
