Search Media & Entertainment Jobs in TexasMedia & Entertainment STEM OPT Sponsorship Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
Which media and entertainment companies in Texas sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas?
AT&T, headquartered in Dallas, has a consistent history of filing Labor Condition Applications for technology roles that fall within STEM OPT-eligible occupation codes. iHeartMedia, also based in San Antonio and with operations across Texas, hires for data and software positions. Austin's growing gaming and digital media studios, including several mid-size interactive entertainment companies, have also filed for STEM-eligible roles in software engineering and data analytics.
Which Texas cities have the most media and entertainment F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Austin leads for gaming, streaming, and digital content technology roles, driven by the city's broad tech hiring base and presence of interactive entertainment companies. Dallas is strongest for broadcast, telecommunications, and media infrastructure roles, largely because of AT&T and regional affiliates headquartered there. Houston has a smaller but active market for digital production and media technology roles tied to its energy and corporate communications sectors.
What types of media and entertainment roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in Texas?
Roles that qualify must fall under STEM-designated Standard Occupational Classification codes. In media and entertainment, these commonly include software engineers building streaming or content delivery platforms, data analysts working on audience measurement or ad-tech systems, UX engineers in gaming or interactive media, and machine learning engineers supporting recommendation or content moderation systems. Creative roles without a technical STEM classification, such as producers or on-air talent, do not qualify for STEM OPT.
How do I find media and entertainment F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate filters jobs specifically by visa type and industry, making it straightforward to search for media and entertainment roles in Texas with confirmed F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship history. Because Migrate Mate surfaces employer Labor Condition Application filing data, you can see which Texas companies have actually filed for STEM-eligible media roles rather than relying on job descriptions that may not disclose sponsorship policies. Filtering by Texas and the media and entertainment category on Migrate Mate narrows results to relevant, sponsorship-active employers.
Are there state-specific or industry-specific considerations for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in Texas media and entertainment?
Texas has no state income tax, which affects net compensation calculations but does not change federal STEM OPT requirements. Industry-specific considerations include the fact that many Texas media roles are project-based or contract positions, which may complicate STEM OPT employment verification since the employer of record must be an E-Verify participant. For roles at media holding companies or staffing intermediaries, confirming which legal entity serves as the STEM OPT employer is important for maintaining valid authorization.
