Which distribution and wholesale companies sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas in Texas?
Companies with significant distribution operations in Texas that have sponsored F-1 STEM OPT workers include McKesson Corporation (headquartered in Irving), Amazon's fulfillment network, DXC Technology, and large wholesale distributors with supply chain analytics teams. Employers hiring for roles in data science, logistics engineering, or operations research are most likely to have STEM-designated positions eligible for OPT extension.
Which cities in Texas have the most distribution and wholesale F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Dallas-Fort Worth leads Texas for distribution and wholesale STEM OPT opportunities, anchored by major logistics corridors and corporate headquarters in Irving, Plano, and Fort Worth. Houston is a secondary hub given its port activity and energy-adjacent wholesale sectors. San Antonio and Austin have smaller but growing distribution footprints, particularly in e-commerce fulfillment and technology-driven supply chain operations.
What types of distribution and wholesale roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
Roles that typically qualify are those requiring a STEM-designated degree and involving quantitative or technical work. Common examples include supply chain analyst, demand planning analyst, logistics data analyst, warehouse automation engineer, and operations research analyst. Positions tied to inventory optimization, transportation modeling, or distribution network analytics often meet STEM OPT eligibility criteria because they align with fields like industrial engineering, statistics, or computer science.

Are there state-specific or industry-specific considerations for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in Texas distribution and wholesale?
Texas has no state income tax, which affects compensation comparisons, but STEM OPT rules are federally governed so no Texas-specific visa requirements exist. Industry-specific considerations include the prevalence of large, established wholesalers with dedicated HR teams, these employers are generally more familiar with OPT paperwork than smaller regional distributors. Roles at companies enrolled in E-Verify are required for STEM OPT authorization, and Texas has a high share of E-Verify-enrolled employers relative to other states.
