Which medical devices companies sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas in Texas?
Several large medical devices employers with Texas operations have filed Labor Condition Applications for roles, including Abbott (headquartered in suburban Dallas), Medtronic, Boston Scientific, and Becton Dickinson. Smaller contract manufacturers and diagnostics firms in the DFW Metroplex and Austin corridor also sponsor F-1 STEM OPT workers, particularly for engineering and regulatory affairs positions. LCA filing history is publicly searchable through the OFLC's disclosure data.
Which cities in Texas have the most medical devices F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Dallas-Fort Worth concentrates the highest volume of medical devices sponsorship activity in Texas, driven by Abbott's large North Texas footprint and a dense cluster of diagnostics and surgical device firms. Austin is growing rapidly, attracting medical technology startups. Houston has a notable presence tied to its life sciences sector, particularly in imaging and surgical robotics. San Antonio hosts smaller but active device manufacturing operations.
What types of medical devices roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
Roles in biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, software engineering for embedded medical systems, quality engineering, and regulatory affairs typically qualify because they require a bachelor's degree or higher in a STEM field directly related to the position. Research and development scientist roles, manufacturing process engineers, and clinical data analysts working within device companies also commonly meet the STEM OPT eligibility criteria as defined by DHS and referenced in O*NET classification standards.
How do I find medical devices F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for employers with verified F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship history in the medical devices sector across Texas cities. Rather than manually reviewing OFLC disclosure files, you can search Migrate Mate's platform to see which Texas-based medical devices employers have actively filed for STEM OPT workers in engineering, quality, and R&D functions, helping you target applications toward companies already familiar with the sponsorship process.
Are there any Texas-specific or medical devices industry considerations for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
Texas has no state income tax, which affects compensation structuring, but does not change federal STEM OPT requirements. Medical devices employers in Texas are subject to FDA regulatory frameworks, meaning many qualifying roles involve quality systems or compliance functions tied to ISO 13485 and 21 CFR Part 820 standards. Employers must be enrolled in E-Verify to hire F-1 STEM OPT workers, and your DSO must authorize the STEM OPT extension through an updated I-20 before employment begins.
