Which fintech companies sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas in Texas?
Texas-based fintech employers with documented STEM OPT sponsorship history include Capital One (Plano), JPMorgan Chase (Dallas and Houston), Fiserv, Dell Technologies Financial Services, and Charles Schwab (Westlake). Payments companies, insurtech firms, and banking technology vendors in the DFW and Austin corridors also sponsor regularly. Sponsorship activity varies by role, team, and business cycle, so checking DOL Labor Condition Application filings for each employer is the most reliable way to verify current sponsorship.
Which cities in Texas have the most fintech F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Dallas-Fort Worth leads Texas for fintech STEM OPT sponsorship volume, anchored by major bank technology campuses in Plano, Irving, and downtown Dallas. Austin is the fastest-growing fintech hub, attracting payments startups, neobanks, and software-driven financial platforms that frequently hire STEM OPT candidates. Houston has a smaller but active fintech presence tied to energy finance and insurance technology. San Antonio hosts USAA and several defense-adjacent fintech employers.
What types of fintech roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
Roles that commonly qualify include software engineer, data engineer, quantitative analyst, machine learning engineer, risk modeling analyst, cybersecurity analyst, and financial data scientist. These positions map to STEM-designated Classification of Instructional Programs codes covering computer science, mathematics, statistics, and engineering fields. The role must directly relate to the student's STEM degree field. Job titles alone don't determine eligibility, the actual duties and degree alignment matter most, so reviewing the O*NET occupation profile for the specific role is recommended.
How do I find fintech F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate filters fintech jobs in Texas by F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship history, pulling from DOL Labor Condition Application data so you can see which employers have actively sponsored the visa type for fintech roles in Dallas, Austin, and Houston. You can narrow results by city, role type, and company size. This is more reliable than filtering general job boards, which don't systematically surface verified STEM OPT sponsorship records for Texas fintech employers.
Are there any Texas-specific or fintech-specific considerations for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
Texas has no state income tax, which affects offer comparisons but not sponsorship eligibility itself. For fintech roles, employers must confirm the position qualifies under a STEM-designated CIP code and that duties align with the student's degree. Texas fintech employers in banking and payments are often large, established companies with dedicated HR and immigration teams, which can streamline the STEM OPT authorization process. Startups in Austin may sponsor but sometimes have less structured immigration support, so confirming an employer's prior sponsorship history through DOL records matters.
