Which investment management companies in Utah sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas?
Several major firms with Utah operations have filed F-1 OPT-compatible roles, including Goldman Sachs, Fidelity Investments, and Franklin Templeton, which have offices in Salt Lake City. Regional asset managers and fintech-adjacent investment firms in the Lehi and Provo corridor have also hired STEM OPT candidates for quantitative and data-focused roles. Sponsorship willingness varies by role and year, so verifying current filing history before applying is important.
Which cities in Utah have the most investment management F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Salt Lake City holds the largest concentration of investment management employers in Utah, home to major fund administrators, wealth management firms, and financial technology companies. Lehi and Provo form a secondary hub where fintech startups and data-driven investment platforms increasingly hire for quantitative roles. Smaller pockets of activity exist in Draper and Sandy, which host back-office and analytics operations for larger financial institutions.
What types of investment management roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
Roles with a direct connection to a STEM-designated degree field are eligible for the 24-month STEM OPT extension. In investment management, this most commonly includes quantitative analyst, portfolio data analyst, risk modeling associate, and financial engineering positions that apply mathematics, statistics, or computer science. Roles classified under SOC codes tied to operations research, statistics, or financial analysis are typical STEM OPT qualifiers. General relationship management or sales roles without a quantitative component rarely qualify.
How do I find investment management F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in Utah?
Migrate Mate filters investment management jobs by visa type, showing Utah-specific roles where employers have documented F-1 OPT or STEM OPT hiring history. Searching by the Investment and Asset Management category on Migrate Mate surfaces quantitative, analytical, and data-focused positions at firms with verified sponsorship activity in Salt Lake City and the broader Wasatch Front. Cross-referencing an employer's OFLC Wage Search filings helps confirm prevailing wage compliance before applying.
Are there state-specific or industry-specific considerations for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in Utah's investment sector?
Utah's investment management industry is heavily influenced by its fintech growth corridor, meaning many STEM OPT-eligible roles sit at the intersection of finance and technology rather than in traditional asset management. Employers in Utah tend to prioritize candidates with programming, data modeling, or machine learning skills alongside finance knowledge. Because STEM OPT requires the employer to complete a formal training plan and E-Verify enrollment, confirming that a prospective employer meets both requirements before accepting an offer is essential.
