Are there state-specific or industry-specific considerations for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in Connecticut's investment management sector?
Connecticut's investment management firms, especially in Fairfield County, are subject to SEC and FINRA oversight, which can affect the speed and structure of onboarding for OPT workers in certain licensed roles. Some firms require FINRA licensing exams before full employment begins, and exam eligibility may interact with OPT start dates. Additionally, Connecticut's proximity to New York means some employers operate across state lines, candidates should confirm which legal entity will serve as the STEM OPT employer of record, as this affects E-Verify compliance and DSO reporting.
