Which companies sponsor visas for hospitalists in Utah?
Intermountain Health is the largest hospital employer in Utah and has a documented history of sponsoring physicians through H-1B visa and J-1 visa waiver pathways. University of Utah Health, CommonSpirit Health (MountainStar facilities), and Steward Health Care also operate Utah hospitals that have sponsored hospitalist roles. Sponsorship availability varies by facility and staffing need, so confirming directly with the employer's recruitment or HR team is important.
Which visa types are most common for hospitalist roles in Utah?
H-1B and J-1 visa waivers are the two most common pathways for international hospitalists working in Utah. Physicians completing a J-1 exchange visitor program often pursue Conrad 30 waivers, which require working in underserved areas for three years. H-1B is available for hospitalists without a J-1 obligation and requires employer sponsorship, including a certified Labor Condition Application filed with the Department of Labor.
Which cities in Utah have the most hospitalist sponsorship jobs?
Salt Lake City has the highest concentration of hospitalist sponsorship opportunities in Utah, anchored by University of Utah Hospital and multiple Intermountain Health facilities. Provo and Ogden also have active hospital systems with hospitalist needs. St. George in southern Utah has seen increased hiring as population growth drives expansion at Intermountain St. George Regional Hospital, making it a secondary market worth monitoring.
How to find hospitalist visa sponsorship jobs in Utah?
Migrate Mate is a job board specifically built for international physicians and healthcare professionals seeking visa sponsorship in the U.S. You can filter by state and role to find hospitalist positions in Utah where employers have indicated sponsorship willingness. Migrate Mate focuses exclusively on sponsored roles, which saves time compared to sorting through listings that do not address immigration support.
Are there any state-specific considerations for hospitalists seeking visa sponsorship in Utah?
Utah participates in the Conrad 30 J-1 waiver program, which allocates 30 waiver slots per year to physicians who agree to serve in Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs) or Medically Underserved Areas (MUAs). Some rural Utah facilities actively recruit J-1 waiver candidates specifically because it helps them fill hard-to-staff positions. Hospitalists interested in this pathway should confirm HPSA designation with the facility before beginning the application process.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored hospitalist jobs in Utah?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
