INTRODUCTION
Nusano is redefining the production and supply of isotopes to support precision medicine, advanced diagnostics, therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals, and national security needs. Through proprietary accelerator‑driven production platforms and integrated nuclear chemistry capabilities, Nusano is building a next‑generation isotope supply ecosystem that emphasizes reliability, safety, and innovation.
We are seeking an experienced RF Systems Engineer to join our team in West Valley City. The successful candidate will be part of a team responsible for the development and maintenance of the RF systems that make up Nusano’s production platform, primarily its Linear accelerator.
The RF systems, each including a low-level drive, high power amplification, and ancillary subsystems, integrate to produce 2MW peak and 300kW average power at 352 MHz power Nusano’s accelerator platform. These systems require knowledge in low level RF design and operation; understanding of the interplay with high power RF is desirable. High availability of these systems is a must for Nusano to meet its radioisotope production goals supporting applications in cancer care. Future opportunities in this discipline may include Nusano’s radioisotope separation and next generation of particle production machines.
Responsibilities
What You'll Do:
- Active (hands-on) participation within the team that designs, develops, installs, integrates, and maintains the RF systems, ensuring that they meet high-availability performance and reliability requirements.
- Work with technical staff to develop and implement procedures for systems operation and maintenance.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with the RF system and implement corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain documentation for the RF systems, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and procedures.
- Work with external vendors to procure and integrate RF components and systems.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment in accordance with established safety protocols and regulations.
- Keep up to date with new developments and technologies in RF engineering and related disciplines.
- Collaborate with other engineers and technical staff to develop and implement improvements to the systems and associated components.
- As requested, perform discipline-related calculations, simulations, and analyses.
- Perform other duties as mutually agreed upon with your supervisor.
- Ensure that the work of self and others is carried out in a safe manner with a focus on excellence and meeting company goals.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in electrical or RF engineering or equivalent.
- Understanding of RF controls and P&ID.
- Familiarity with, and at least 3 years of demonstrated hands-on experience with RF systems and measurement techniques and test equipment for testing and evaluation purposes.
- Demonstrated proficiency in troubleshooting and diagnosis.
- Effective interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of requisite safety protocols and regulations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated operational/hands-on experience, including troubleshooting skills on systems with high up-time requirements.
- Familiarity with EPICS-based controls.
- Knowledge and experience with antenna design and EMI filtering techniques.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions to technical challenges.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Working knowledge of modeling and simulation codes commonly used for electrical engineering such as Matlab, SPICE, ETAP.
Physical Requirements
- Must be comfortable working in a radiation-producing facility.
- Must be comfortable working with RF-producing equipment and high voltage/high current systems.
- Work to be conducted in both an office environment, laboratories, and production environment.
- Use of a computer with repetitive use of keyboard and mouse.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Available for off-hours consultation and/or call-in.

Which companies sponsor visas for software systems engineers in Utah?
Companies actively filing H-1B visa petitions for software systems engineers in Utah include Adobe, Qualtrics, Pluralsight, Recursion Pharmaceuticals, and defense contractors like Northrop Grumman and L3Harris, which have significant Utah operations. Larger enterprises in the Silicon Slopes corridor tend to have established immigration processes, while smaller startups may sponsor selectively depending on the role's seniority and criticality.
Which visa types are most common for software systems engineer roles in Utah?
The H-1B is the most common visa for software systems engineers in Utah, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. Candidates already in the U.S. on OPT or STEM OPT extension are frequently sponsored for H-1B by Utah tech employers. The O-1A is an option for engineers with demonstrable exceptional ability.
Which cities in Utah have the most software systems engineer sponsorship jobs?
Salt Lake City and the broader Silicon Slopes corridor, which runs through Lehi, Draper, and South Jordan, concentrate the majority of software systems engineer sponsorship opportunities in the state. Provo and Orem also have a meaningful presence, driven by BYU's computer science pipeline and nearby tech companies. Ogden sees some activity from defense and aerospace employers with federal contracts.
How to find software systems engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Utah?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to identify software systems engineer roles in Utah where employers are actively open to sponsoring. Because sponsorship willingness isn't always stated in standard job postings, using a platform like Migrate Mate that surfaces verified sponsoring employers saves significant time compared to manually screening general job boards.
Are there any Utah-specific considerations for software systems engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
Utah's defense and aerospace sector, centered around Hill Air Force Base and contractors operating near Ogden and Salt Lake City, sometimes requires security clearances that can complicate or limit visa sponsorship for non-U.S. nationals. Outside defense, Utah's tech industry draws heavily from University of Utah and BYU graduates, so employers are generally familiar with OPT and H-1B processes. The DOL prevailing wage level for software systems engineers in Salt Lake City's metropolitan area determines the minimum wage your sponsoring employer must offer.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software systems engineer jobs in Utah?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
