Which companies sponsor visas for software systems engineers in Indiana?
Several Indiana employers have established sponsorship track records for software systems engineers. Eli Lilly, Salesforce, Cummins, Rolls-Royce, and Infosys all have significant Indiana engineering presences and have filed H-1B petitions for systems-focused roles. Larger consulting and IT services firms operating out of Indianapolis also regularly sponsor, particularly for enterprise systems and infrastructure engineering positions.
Which visa types are most common for software systems engineer roles in Indiana?
The H-1B is the most common visa for software systems engineers in Indiana, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. L-1B visas are also used for engineers transferring within multinational companies like Rolls-Royce or Infosys. Canadians and Mexicans may qualify for TN visas under the engineer category.
Which cities in Indiana have the most software systems engineer sponsorship jobs?
Indianapolis accounts for the majority of software systems engineer sponsorship activity in Indiana, driven by its concentration of tech companies, financial services firms, and large corporate headquarters. Carmel and Fishers, both suburbs of Indianapolis, have growing tech employer clusters. Bloomington sees some activity tied to Indiana University's computing programs, and Columbus hosts engineering roles connected to Cummins's global operations.
How to find software systems engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Indiana?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters software systems engineer roles in Indiana by visa sponsorship willingness, saving you from applying to positions that won't support work authorization. You can browse active Indiana postings, filter by employer and visa type, and identify which companies have recent H-1B filing histories for systems engineering roles, all in one place.
Are there state-specific considerations for software systems engineers pursuing sponsorship in Indiana?
Indiana's manufacturing and life sciences industries mean that software systems engineer roles often require domain knowledge in operational technology, embedded systems, or regulated environments, which can affect how employers classify positions for H-1B purposes. Indiana University and Purdue University produce strong local engineering pipelines, so employers in Bloomington and West Lafayette often have established processes for sponsoring recent graduates transitioning from OPT or STEM OPT.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software systems engineer jobs in Indiana?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
