Which companies sponsor visas for care assistants in Virginia?
Inova Health System, Sentara Healthcare, VCU Health, and Carilion Clinic are among the larger Virginia employers with documented histories of sponsoring international healthcare workers. Smaller assisted living networks and long-term care facilities across Northern Virginia and Hampton Roads also sponsor care assistants, particularly when facing staffing shortages in high-demand regions.
Which visa types are most common for care assistant roles in Virginia?
The H-1B visa is generally not available for care assistant roles because the position typically does not meet the specialty occupation requirement. Most internationally sponsored care assistants in Virginia come through the EB-3 employment-based green card pathway, which covers skilled and unskilled workers. Some employers also use the J-1 visa exchange visitor visa for care-related training programs.
Which cities in Virginia have the most care assistant sponsorship jobs?
Northern Virginia, particularly the Fairfax and Arlington corridors, has the highest concentration of care assistant sponsorship opportunities due to its large aging population and proximity to major health systems. Richmond and Hampton Roads, including Virginia Beach and Norfolk, are also active markets, supported by hospital networks and a substantial network of senior care facilities.
How to find care assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Virginia?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters care assistant roles in Virginia by visa sponsorship availability, saving you from sifting through listings that won't support work authorization. You can search by location, care setting, and visa type. Given that EB-3 sponsorship timelines can be long, starting your search early through a focused platform like Migrate Mate is practical.
Are there state-specific considerations for care assistant sponsorship jobs in Virginia?
Virginia requires care assistants working in licensed facilities to meet state certification standards, including completion of a state-approved nursing assistant training program. Employers sponsoring international workers must also meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements for the specific region, which differ between Northern Virginia and more rural parts of the state. Confirming certification eligibility before pursuing sponsorship is an important early step.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored care assistant jobs in Virginia?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
