Which companies sponsor visas for care assistants in Wisconsin?
Large health systems and long-term care operators are the most active sponsors. Froedtert Health, UW Health, Ascension Wisconsin, and Aurora Health Care have established HR infrastructure for international hiring. Smaller assisted living facilities and home health agencies do sponsor as well, though less consistently. Focusing on multi-site healthcare networks increases your chances of finding an employer with prior H-1B or EB-3 sponsorship experience.
Which visa types are most common for care assistant roles in Wisconsin?
EB-3 is the most common pathway for care assistants in Wisconsin, as the role is typically classified under unskilled or other worker categories rather than specialty occupations. Some employers use the H-2B visa for temporary or seasonal care positions. Candidates with nursing credentials may qualify for different categories. An immigration attorney can help determine which petition type applies to your specific role and qualifications.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most care assistant sponsorship jobs?
Milwaukee is the largest market, anchored by Froedtert Health and Ascension Wisconsin campuses. Madison follows closely, driven by UW Health and a growing network of senior care facilities near the UW-Madison campus. Green Bay and Appleton have meaningful demand from regional health systems and long-term care operators. Rural counties across Wisconsin also have openings, though sponsoring employers are less concentrated outside these metro areas.
How to find care assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for visa sponsorship, making it easier to identify Wisconsin employers actively hiring care assistants internationally. Rather than sorting through general postings, you can search by state and role to surface positions from health systems and long-term care facilities that have sponsored before. Creating a profile on Migrate Mate also helps employers find you directly when they have open care assistant roles in Wisconsin.
Are there any state-specific considerations for care assistants seeking sponsorship in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin requires care assistants working in certified facilities to complete state-approved training and pass a competency evaluation before working unsupervised with residents. Internationally sponsored workers must meet these requirements alongside federal visa conditions. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services maintains the nurse aide registry, and your employer will typically coordinate certification as part of onboarding. Understanding this timeline matters when planning your start date after visa approval.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored care assistant jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
