Which companies sponsor visas for care assistants in Michigan?
Large Michigan health systems including Henry Ford Health, Beaumont Health (now Corewell Health), Ascension Michigan, and Trinity Health have filed for work visa sponsorships in direct care and support roles. Skilled nursing facilities and home health agencies operating across southeast Michigan and the Grand Rapids area also appear in federal labor condition application data for care-related positions.
Which visa types are most common for care assistant roles in Michigan?
The H-1B is rarely used for care assistant roles because most positions do not meet the specialty occupation requirement of a bachelor's degree in a specific field. The EB-3 immigrant visa, which covers skilled and unskilled workers, is the more common pathway. Some employers also sponsor care assistants through the H-2B temporary nonagricultural worker program for seasonal or short-term placements.
Which cities in Michigan have the most care assistant sponsorship jobs?
Detroit and its surrounding metro area, including Dearborn, Warren, and Southfield, account for the largest share of care assistant openings tied to major health systems. Grand Rapids is the second largest hub, driven by Corewell Health and a growing network of senior living facilities. Lansing, Flint, and Ann Arbor also generate consistent demand, particularly in hospital-adjacent long-term care settings.
How to find care assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search care assistant roles in Michigan without sorting through positions that do not offer sponsorship. The platform covers openings with major Michigan health systems and care networks. Filtering by state and role on Migrate Mate is the most direct way to identify which Michigan employers are actively hiring internationally for care assistant positions.
Are there state-specific considerations for care assistants seeking sponsorship in Michigan?
Michigan requires care assistants working in licensed facilities to complete state-approved training and pass a competency evaluation before working unsupervised. Employers sponsoring international workers typically account for this credentialing timeline when structuring job offers. Michigan's Department of Health and Human Services maintains the nurse aide registry, and international candidates should confirm their training credentials are accepted or transferable before beginning an application process.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored care assistant jobs in Michigan?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
