Which companies sponsor visas for care assistants in Illinois?
Large health systems and long-term care operators are the most active sponsors. Advocate Aurora Health, Northwestern Medicine, Rush University Medical Center, and Presence Health have histories of sponsoring foreign workers in care roles. Regional nursing home chains and home health agencies operating across the Chicago metro area and downstate Illinois also file sponsorship petitions, particularly when local hiring pipelines fall short.
Which visa types are most common for care assistant roles in Illinois?
The H-1B is generally not applicable to care assistant roles because the position typically does not require a specialty degree. Most care assistant sponsorships in Illinois use the EB-3 immigrant visa category, which supports workers in unskilled or semi-skilled occupations. Some employers also use the H-2B for temporary non-agricultural work, though this is less common for ongoing care roles than EB-3.
Which cities in Illinois have the most care assistant sponsorship jobs?
Chicago and its surrounding suburbs, including Naperville, Evanston, and Joliet, account for the majority of care assistant sponsorship activity in Illinois. The city's density of hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and home health agencies drives consistent demand. Rockford, Peoria, and Springfield also see steady hiring, especially within regional hospital networks and state-funded disability services programs operating in those areas.
How to find care assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for visa sponsorship, making it straightforward to browse care assistant openings in Illinois without sorting through roles that don't offer sponsorship. You can narrow results by location, covering Chicago, Rockford, Springfield, and other Illinois cities. Migrate Mate focuses on international candidates, so the listings shown are from employers already open to sponsoring foreign workers in care assistant roles.
Are there any Illinois-specific considerations for care assistants seeking visa sponsorship?
Illinois requires care assistants working in licensed facilities to meet state training and certification standards, which employers typically account for during onboarding. For EB-3 sponsorship, employers must complete a PERM labor market test with the Department of Labor before filing, which can extend timelines considerably. Illinois' unionized healthcare sector, particularly in Chicago, means some sponsored roles come with collective bargaining agreements that set specific employment conditions.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored care assistant jobs in Illinois?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
