Which companies and school districts sponsor visas for school nurses in West Virginia?
The most active sponsors for school nurse positions in West Virginia are county boards of education, particularly Kanawha County Schools, Monongalia County Schools, and Cabell County Schools. Larger hospital systems with school-based health programs, such as those affiliated with WVU Medicine and Cabell Huntington Hospital, have also supported visa sponsorship for qualified nursing staff placed in school settings.
Which visa types are most common for school nurse roles in West Virginia?
The H-1B visa is the most common pathway for school nurses in West Virginia, as registered nursing in a school setting typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Some candidates also come through the EB-3 immigrant visa category via employer-sponsored permanent residence petitions, particularly for hard-to-fill positions in rural districts.
Which cities in West Virginia have the most school nurse sponsorship jobs?
Charleston, as the state capital and home to Kanawha County Schools, has the highest concentration of school nurse positions. Morgantown, where West Virginia University is located, also sees steady demand through Monongalia County Schools. Huntington, Parkersburg, and Wheeling round out the areas with the most active public school district hiring for nursing roles.
How to find school nurse visa sponsorship jobs in West Virginia?
Migrate Mate is a focused resource for international candidates searching for visa sponsorship jobs, including school nurse roles in West Virginia. You can filter directly by state and role to see which county school districts and affiliated health programs are actively hiring and open to sponsoring international applicants, saving time compared to searching general job boards that do not filter by sponsorship status.
Are there any state-specific considerations for school nurses seeking visa sponsorship in West Virginia?
West Virginia requires school nurses to hold a valid West Virginia RN license, and international candidates must have their credentials evaluated for equivalency before applying. The state's rural character means many open positions are in smaller districts where the sponsorship process may be less familiar to HR teams, so candidates benefit from understanding H-1B requirements in detail before initiating conversations with prospective employers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored school nurse jobs in West Virginia?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
