Which companies sponsor visas for architectural engineers in Wisconsin?
Milwaukee-based engineering consultancies including Graef, HNTB, and Stantec have sponsored architectural engineers through the H-1B program. Larger national firms with Wisconsin offices, such as Aecom and Jacobs, also file H-1B petitions for qualifying roles. Public sector employers, including the University of Wisconsin system and state agencies, sponsor architectural engineers in limited cases for specialized positions.
Which visa types are most common for architectural engineer roles in Wisconsin?
The H-1B is the most common visa for architectural engineers in Wisconsin, as the role consistently qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in architectural engineering or a closely related field. Some candidates from Canada or Mexico may qualify under the TN visa. Candidates with extraordinary ability may explore the O-1 visa, though it requires substantial documented recognition.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most architectural engineer sponsorship jobs?
Milwaukee has the highest concentration of architectural engineer sponsorship opportunities in Wisconsin, driven by its commercial development activity and the presence of large engineering consultancies. Madison follows, supported by state government projects and University of Wisconsin construction programs. Green Bay and Waukesha also see periodic openings tied to regional infrastructure and industrial facility projects.
How to find architectural engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can browse architectural engineer openings in Wisconsin without sorting through roles that don't offer sponsorship. Search by state and role to surface positions at Wisconsin firms that have a documented history of H-1B filings. This narrows your focus to employers already set up to support the sponsorship process.
Are there state-specific considerations for architectural engineers seeking sponsorship in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin does not require a state-issued architectural engineer license separate from the standard Professional Engineer credential, but roles involving stamped drawings will require PE licensure, which affects how employers classify positions for H-1B purposes. Employers must pay at least the Department of Labor prevailing wage for the role's occupational category and geographic area, which is determined by the specific Wisconsin county where the work is performed.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored architectural engineer jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
