Which companies in Missouri sponsor visas for architectural engineers?
St. Louis-based HOK is among the most active sponsors for architectural engineers in Missouri, given its global design portfolio. Burns & McDonnell in Kansas City regularly sponsors engineers across disciplines, including architectural engineering. Smaller regional firms with active federal or commercial project pipelines also sponsor H-1B workers, though less frequently. Checking a firm's DOL Labor Condition Application disclosures can confirm prior sponsorship activity.
Which visa types are most common for architectural engineer roles in Missouri?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for architectural engineers in Missouri, as the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a relevant bachelor's degree or higher. Some candidates enter through OPT or STEM OPT extensions after graduating from Missouri universities. The O-1A is an option for architects with demonstrated exceptional recognition, though it requires substantial supporting documentation and is far less common than the H-1B.
Which cities in Missouri have the most architectural engineer sponsorship jobs?
St. Louis and Kansas City account for the large majority of architectural engineer sponsorship activity in Missouri. St. Louis hosts major design firms, healthcare system expansions, and institutional construction projects that regularly require licensed and degreed engineering talent. Kansas City's continued commercial and infrastructure growth, along with the presence of large engineering firms, makes it the second-strongest market. Columbia and Springfield have smaller but emerging engineering markets tied to university and healthcare projects.
How to find architectural engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Missouri?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find architectural engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Missouri. The platform filters roles by state and occupation, surfacing positions from employers with documented H-1B sponsorship history. Rather than sorting through general job boards, Migrate Mate focuses specifically on internationally qualified candidates, saving significant time when targeting Missouri-based firms in St. Louis or Kansas City.
Are there state-specific considerations for architectural engineers seeking sponsorship in Missouri?
Missouri does not have state-level licensing requirements that directly affect H-1B petition eligibility, but employers filing Labor Condition Applications must pay at least the prevailing wage for architectural engineering roles as determined by the Department of Labor for the specific metro area. St. Louis and Kansas City have different prevailing wage levels. Missouri's engineering programs at Washington University and Missouri University of Science and Technology also create a pipeline that some firms use before considering international sponsorship candidates.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored architectural engineer jobs in Missouri?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
