Which companies sponsor visas for architectural engineers in Arizona?
Engineering and architecture firms with established Arizona offices are the most active sponsors. DLR Group, SmithGroup, Terracon, and Jacobs Engineering have all filed H-1B visa petitions for engineering roles in the state. Larger construction management firms and specialty MEP consultancies working on Arizona's expanding semiconductor and healthcare sectors also show consistent sponsorship patterns, as these projects require specialized building systems expertise that supports specialty occupation classification.
Which visa types are most common for architectural engineer roles in Arizona?
The H-1B is the most common visa for architectural engineers in Arizona, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in architectural engineering or a closely related field. Canadian and Mexican nationals may pursue the TN visa under the NAFTA successor agreement, listing the role under engineer categories. Australian citizens may qualify for the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and renews in two-year increments.
Which cities in Arizona have the most architectural engineer sponsorship jobs?
Phoenix accounts for the large majority of architectural engineer sponsorship activity in Arizona, driven by commercial construction, TSMC's semiconductor campus in the North Valley, and a growing data center corridor. Tucson is a secondary market with demand tied to defense contractors and the University of Arizona's research facilities. Scottsdale and Tempe also have active design and engineering firm presences within the greater Phoenix metro.
How to find architectural engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Arizona?
Migrate Mate filters architectural engineer job listings specifically to employers that have a documented history of visa sponsorship, saving you from applying to roles where international candidates are screened out early. You can filter by Arizona to surface active openings in Phoenix, Tucson, and surrounding metros. This is particularly useful for architectural engineers, where sponsorship eligibility often depends on how the employer classifies the role and whether they have an active LCA on file.
Are there state-specific considerations for architectural engineers seeking sponsorship in Arizona?
Arizona does not license architectural engineers as a separate category; the state's registering board covers professional engineers broadly under Arizona Revised Statutes. Internationally trained candidates should verify whether their foreign degree meets Arizona State Board of Technical Registration equivalency standards, as employers may factor licensure pathways into hiring decisions for sponsored roles. Arizona's active construction pipeline, particularly in semiconductor and logistics infrastructure, creates genuine demand for building systems and structural specializations that support H-1B sponsorship cases.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored architectural engineer jobs in Arizona?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
