Which companies sponsor visas for architectural engineers in Utah?
Large engineering and design firms with Utah offices are the most consistent sponsors for architectural engineers. AECOM, WSP, Stantec, and Terracon have sponsored H-1B workers for architecture and engineering roles in the Salt Lake City area. Smaller regional firms occasionally sponsor too, but multi-office national firms tend to have established legal infrastructure and prior sponsorship history, making them more reliable targets.
Which visa types are most common for architectural engineer roles in Utah?
The H-1B is the most common visa for architectural engineers in Utah, given that the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in architectural or structural engineering. Candidates with a pending or approved EB-2 or EB-3 petition may also work under employment-based immigrant visa pathways. Australians may have access to the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and is renewable indefinitely.
Which cities in Utah have the most architectural engineer sponsorship jobs?
Salt Lake City accounts for the large majority of architectural engineer sponsorship activity in Utah, home to the state's largest concentration of AEC firms and public infrastructure projects. Provo and Ogden also have architectural engineering activity, particularly tied to university-adjacent development and municipal projects. Remote-friendly roles posted by Utah-based firms occasionally extend to candidates outside the Wasatch Front as well.
How to find architectural engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Utah?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for roles with visa sponsorship, so you can search architectural engineer positions in Utah without sorting through employers unlikely to sponsor. Migrate Mate's listings include firms that have a documented history of sponsoring H-1B and other work visas, which is especially useful for targeting the Salt Lake City AEC market where sponsorship openness varies significantly across firms.
Are there state-specific considerations for architectural engineers seeking sponsorship in Utah?
Utah's Department of Commerce requires architectural engineers to meet licensure requirements through the Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing, which matters for roles involving stamped drawings or design-of-record responsibilities. DOL prevailing wage determinations for architectural engineering roles in the Salt Lake City metropolitan area govern what sponsoring employers must pay H-1B workers. Utah State University and the University of Utah also produce engineering graduates who compete for the same roles, so international candidates benefit from relevant licensed or post-graduate experience.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored architectural engineer jobs in Utah?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
