Which companies in Wisconsin sponsor visas for senior DevOps engineers?
Milwaukee-based Fiserv is among the most active H-1B sponsors in Wisconsin for technology roles, including senior DevOps and platform engineering positions. Epic Systems in Verona and American Family Insurance in Madison also have track records of sponsoring senior engineering talent. Larger financial services and health IT firms in the state tend to have established immigration processes compared to smaller startups.
Which visa types are most common for senior DevOps engineer roles in Wisconsin?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for senior DevOps engineers in Wisconsin, as the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Candidates already holding L-1B visas through intracompany transfers may also transition into permanent roles. Employers sometimes use O-1A for candidates with demonstrable exceptional contributions to the field.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most senior DevOps engineer sponsorship jobs?
Milwaukee and Madison account for the majority of senior DevOps engineer sponsorship activity in Wisconsin. Milwaukee draws demand from financial technology and insurance firms headquartered there, while Madison benefits from proximity to Epic Systems and the University of Wisconsin's engineering pipeline. Green Bay has a smaller but growing technology employer base, though sponsorship volume there is considerably lower than in the two major metros.
How to find senior devops engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically to roles where employers are open to visa sponsorship, making it straightforward to browse senior DevOps engineer openings in Wisconsin without sorting through positions that exclude international candidates. Searching by state and role on Migrate Mate surfaces employers in Milwaukee, Madison, and surrounding areas who have filed H-1B petitions for infrastructure and platform engineering positions at the senior level.
Are there state-specific considerations for senior DevOps engineers pursuing sponsorship in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin's technology hiring is anchored in health IT and financial services, so senior DevOps engineers with experience in regulated environments, including HIPAA-compliant infrastructure or PCI-DSS frameworks, are well positioned with major state employers. The University of Wisconsin-Madison produces a consistent pipeline of engineering graduates, which means competition at the mid-level is high, making senior-level specialization in areas like Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, or cloud security particularly valued by Wisconsin sponsors.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored senior devops engineer jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
