Which companies sponsor visas for software engineering managers in Wisconsin?
Northwestern Mutual and Johnson Controls in Milwaukee, along with Epic Systems in Verona near Madison, are among the more active sponsors for senior engineering roles in Wisconsin. Harley-Davidson, Rockwell Automation, and a growing number of health tech firms also have histories of sponsoring software engineering managers through H-1B and L-1 petitions, based on Department of Labor disclosure data.
Which visa types are most common for software engineering manager roles in Wisconsin?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for software engineering managers in Wisconsin, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. Candidates transferring within multinational companies may also be eligible for the L-1A, which covers managerial and executive transfers between affiliated entities.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most software engineering manager sponsorship jobs?
Milwaukee accounts for the largest share of software engineering manager sponsorship activity in Wisconsin, driven by its concentration of financial services, insurance, and industrial technology employers. Madison is close behind, anchored by Epic Systems and a University of Wisconsin-Madison research and startup community. Green Bay and Appleton in the Fox Valley corridor represent smaller but active pockets of engineering hiring.
How to find software engineering manager visa sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate aggregates visa sponsorship jobs and lets you filter specifically by role and state, making it straightforward to browse software engineering manager openings in Wisconsin without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. Because sponsorship willingness is not always stated in general job postings, using a platform focused on sponsored roles saves significant time for international candidates targeting Wisconsin employers.
Are there any Wisconsin-specific considerations for software engineering managers seeking sponsorship?
Wisconsin employers sponsoring H-1B software engineering managers must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements, which are benchmarked to the Madison or Milwaukee metropolitan areas depending on the work location. The University of Wisconsin system also creates a notable pipeline of international candidates completing graduate degrees in computer science locally, which contributes to employer familiarity with sponsorship processes at larger Wisconsin tech and enterprise firms.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software engineering manager jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
