Which companies in Florida sponsor visas for software engineering managers?
Several large Florida-based employers have established track records of sponsoring engineering leadership roles, including UKG (formerly Ultimate Software) in Weston, Chewy in Dania Beach, and Citrix in Fort Lauderdale. Defense and aerospace contractors such as Lockheed Martin and L3Harris in the Space Coast region also sponsor technical management positions, particularly for senior engineering roles requiring specialized domain knowledge.
Which visa types are most common for software engineering manager roles in Florida?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for software engineering managers in Florida, as the role consistently qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or a related field. Candidates with extraordinary achievement may qualify for the O-1A. Multinational managers transferring from an overseas parent or subsidiary may also be eligible for the L-1A, which covers managerial roles specifically.
Which cities in Florida have the most software engineering manager sponsorship jobs?
Miami leads the state, driven by its growing concentration of fintech, healthtech, and Latin American tech headquarters. Tampa and St. Petersburg follow, anchored by financial services firms and a strong mid-market tech sector. Orlando's simulation, defense, and gaming industries generate consistent demand for engineering managers, while the Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton corridor houses several established enterprise software companies with active sponsorship histories.
How to find software engineering manager visa sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for roles offering visa sponsorship, making it easier to identify software engineering manager positions in Florida without sifting through postings that don't support international candidates. You can search by state and job title to surface relevant openings across Miami, Tampa, Orlando, and other Florida markets. Filtering for sponsorship upfront saves significant time in a job search where most generic boards don't surface this information.
Are there any Florida-specific considerations for software engineering manager visa sponsorship?
Florida has no state income tax, which affects the prevailing wage calculation context employers consider when structuring compensation for sponsored roles. The state's large public university system, including the University of Florida and University of South Florida, produces a steady pipeline of engineering talent that influences local hiring competitiveness. Defense and aerospace employers on the Space Coast often require security clearances, which can complicate sponsorship timelines for certain visa categories.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software engineering manager jobs in Florida?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
