Which companies sponsor visas for software engineering managers in Oregon?
Intel is the most prominent Oregon-based sponsor for engineering leadership roles, given its large Hillsboro campus. Nike and Adidas both maintain technology divisions in the Portland metro area and have sponsored engineering managers. Daimler Trucks North America, Lattice, and various Portland-based SaaS companies also appear in Department of Labor disclosure data for software engineering management positions.
Which visa types are most common for software engineering manager roles in Oregon?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for software engineering managers in Oregon, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, satisfying the specialty occupation requirement. Candidates with prior U.S. experience may also qualify for L-1A intracompany transferee status if moving from an overseas affiliate, and those with exceptional records may explore the O-1A.
Which cities in Oregon have the most software engineering manager sponsorship jobs?
Portland accounts for the large majority of software engineering manager sponsorship activity in Oregon, driven by its concentration of tech companies, digital agencies, and enterprise technology divisions. Hillsboro, just west of Portland, is significant on its own due to Intel's campus. Beaverton adds further volume through Nike's global headquarters. Eugene and Bend have smaller but growing tech communities, though sponsorship activity there is more limited.
How to find software engineering manager visa sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate lists software engineering manager roles in Oregon filtered specifically for visa sponsorship, saving you from sifting through postings where sponsorship is unavailable. Because engineering manager positions involve people leadership in addition to technical skills, it helps to filter by employers with a documented history of sponsoring this title specifically. Migrate Mate's data focuses on verified sponsoring employers, making it more targeted than a general job search.
Are there state-specific considerations for software engineering manager sponsorship in Oregon?
Oregon does not have a state income tax advantage or special visa program, but its concentration of semiconductor and athletic-wear technology employers creates niche demand for engineering managers with hardware, embedded systems, or consumer technology backgrounds. Oregon State University and the University of Oregon supply regional talent pipelines, and some employers in Corvallis and Eugene hire engineering managers from those networks. Prevailing wage requirements for H-1B petitions apply uniformly at the federal level regardless of state.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software engineering manager jobs in Oregon?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
