Which companies in Iowa sponsor visas for software engineering managers?
John Deere, Principal Financial Group, Collins Aerospace, and Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield are among the Iowa employers that have sponsored work visas for software engineering roles. Larger enterprise companies with established HR and legal teams are more likely to navigate the sponsorship process for manager-level positions than smaller regional firms.
Which visa types are most common for software engineering manager roles in Iowa?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for software engineering managers in Iowa, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or a related field, meeting the specialty occupation standard. Candidates already holding L-1 intracompany transferee status through a multinational employer are another common pathway at companies like John Deere with global operations.
Which cities in Iowa have the most software engineering manager sponsorship jobs?
Des Moines accounts for the majority of software engineering manager sponsorship activity in Iowa, driven by its concentration of financial services, insurance, and technology firms. Cedar Rapids is a secondary hub with employers in aerospace and manufacturing technology. Iowa City and Ames see some activity tied to the University of Iowa and Iowa State University research affiliates.
How to find software engineering manager visa sponsorship jobs in Iowa?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to search for software engineering manager roles in Iowa without sorting through positions that won't support international candidates. You can narrow results by location and role type to focus on Des Moines and Cedar Rapids employers that have a track record of sponsoring engineering leadership hires.
Are there any Iowa-specific considerations for software engineering managers seeking visa sponsorship?
Iowa's software engineering manager market is heavily tied to enterprise sectors like financial services, insurance, agtech, and aerospace manufacturing rather than high-growth tech startups. This means sponsoring employers tend to be established organizations with formal immigration processes, but the overall volume of sponsorship opportunities is lower than in coastal tech hubs. University pipelines from Iowa State and the University of Iowa feed some employer relationships worth monitoring.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software engineering manager jobs in Iowa?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
