Which companies sponsor visas for technical leads in Wisconsin?
Epic Systems in Verona is one of the most active sponsors for technical roles in Wisconsin, alongside Rockwell Automation in Milwaukee and Northwestern Mutual. Harley-Davidson and Fiserv also have engineering and technology teams that have historically supported H-1B visa sponsorship for senior technical positions. Larger enterprises with established HR infrastructure are generally more consistent sponsors than smaller Wisconsin firms.
Which visa types are most common for technical lead roles in Wisconsin?
The H-1B is the most common visa for technical lead roles in Wisconsin, as these positions typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or a related field and qualify as specialty occupations. Candidates already holding L-1A or L-1B status through an intracompany transfer may also move into technical lead roles. Australians may qualify for the E-3 visa as an alternative to the H-1B.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most technical lead sponsorship jobs?
Madison and Milwaukee account for the majority of technical lead sponsorship activity in Wisconsin. Madison benefits from proximity to Epic Systems, the University of Wisconsin, and a growing startup ecosystem. Milwaukee is home to larger industrial and financial technology employers like Rockwell Automation, Fiserv, and Northwestern Mutual. Green Bay and Waukesha have smaller but present tech hiring markets worth monitoring.
How to find technical lead visa sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to search for technical lead roles in Wisconsin without sifting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. You can filter by state and role type to see active openings at Wisconsin employers who have indicated willingness to sponsor. This saves significant time compared to manually researching each company's sponsorship history.
Are there any Wisconsin-specific considerations for technical leads seeking visa sponsorship?
Wisconsin's Department of Workforce Development sets prevailing wage benchmarks that employers must meet when filing Labor Condition Applications for H-1B technical lead roles, and these figures reflect regional market rates rather than national averages. Madison's concentration of health IT talent around Epic Systems means competition for technical lead positions can be high. Candidates with experience in healthcare technology, manufacturing software, or financial systems will find their backgrounds especially relevant to Wisconsin's dominant industries.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored technical lead jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
