Which companies sponsor visas for trainees in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin employers with documented international hiring for trainee and entry-level roles include Johnson Controls, Oshkosh Corporation, Rockwell Automation, and Aurora Health Care. Manufacturing and industrial equipment firms in the Milwaukee and Fox Valley corridors tend to sponsor the most frequently, often for engineering and operations trainees. Sponsorship availability varies by role, year, and the employer's current workforce needs.
Which visa types are most common for trainee roles in Wisconsin?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for trainee roles requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in a specialty field, such as engineering, IT, or business analysis. F-1 graduates on OPT or STEM OPT also fill many Wisconsin trainee positions while transitioning to employer-sponsored status. The J-1 visa covers formal exchange visitor trainee and intern programs, though it requires a designated sponsor organization and program approval.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most trainee sponsorship jobs?
Milwaukee concentrates the largest share of trainee sponsorship opportunities, driven by manufacturing, finance, and healthcare employers headquartered there. Madison follows closely, supported by the University of Wisconsin system's research and technology sector and a growing biotech presence. Green Bay and Appleton also offer trainee roles, particularly in paper and packaging manufacturing, food processing, and regional healthcare networks.
How to find trainee visa sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to browse trainee roles in Wisconsin without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. You can narrow results by location and role type to focus on Milwaukee, Madison, or other Wisconsin metros. Migrate Mate's listings are updated regularly, which matters for trainee roles that often open on seasonal or cohort-based hiring cycles.
Are there state-specific considerations for trainee visa sponsorship in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin's manufacturing-heavy economy means many trainee roles fall under engineering and production specialties, which generally qualify as H-1B specialty occupations when a relevant degree is required. The University of Wisconsin system produces a large pipeline of international graduates on OPT, so Wisconsin employers are often familiar with sponsorship processes. Prevailing wage requirements apply to all H-1B positions, and rates are determined by the Department of Labor based on the specific role and geographic area within Wisconsin.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored trainee jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
