Target employers with an H-1B filing history
Not every company sponsors visas. Focus your search on employers who have filed H-1B petitions for marketing roles before. Migrate Mate surfaces these employers so you're not wasting applications on companies that won't sponsor.
Make sure the job posting requires a specific degree
USCIS denies H-1B petitions for marketing roles when postings say 'bachelor's preferred' instead of 'required.' Look for listings that specify a degree in marketing, communications, or a directly related field as a hard requirement.
Document your specialization clearly on your resume
Generalist marketing experience raises specialty occupation concerns. Emphasize a defined specialization, SEO strategy, paid media, marketing analytics, or brand strategy, and frame every role around that focus to strengthen the petition.
Get your degree equivalency assessed early
If your marketing or communications degree is from outside the U.S., have a credential evaluation completed before applying. A three-year Australian bachelor's is generally accepted, but evaluations from other countries can take several weeks to process.
Know that employer size affects petition strategy
Large companies with dedicated immigration teams file H-1B petitions routinely. Smaller agencies may be willing but unfamiliar with the process. Going in prepared with basic process knowledge makes those conversations more productive and sponsorship more likely.

Find Digital Marketing Strategist JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does a Digital Marketing Strategist role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
It depends on how the role is defined. USCIS has scrutinized marketing positions because not every employer requires a specific degree. A Digital Marketing Strategist petition is strongest when the job posting requires a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a closely related field, and when the role involves specialized work like data-driven campaign strategy or marketing analytics rather than general promotional tasks.
What visa options are available for Digital Marketing Strategists who don't win the H-1B lottery?
Australian citizens can apply for the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and a 10,500 annual cap that has never been fully used. Canadian and Mexican citizens may qualify for TN status if the role fits the eligible occupation list. Candidates with a strong portfolio of recognition, awards, or industry leadership may also be worth exploring the O-1A visa, which has no cap and no lottery.
What degree do I need for an employer to sponsor my H-1B as a Digital Marketing Strategist?
A bachelor's degree in marketing, advertising, communications, or a directly related field is the standard requirement. Degrees in unrelated fields like history or education make sponsorship significantly harder, even with years of relevant experience. If your degree is in a neighboring field like business or psychology, the petition needs to clearly connect the curriculum to marketing strategy. Work experience alone does not substitute for the degree requirement under H-1B rules.
How do I find Digital Marketing Strategist jobs where the employer is willing to sponsor a visa?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find these roles. It filters job listings specifically for positions where employers are open to sponsoring work visas, so you're not sifting through hundreds of postings only to find out sponsorship isn't available. This is especially useful for marketing roles, where sponsorship willingness varies widely by employer type and industry.
Are H-1B approvals for Digital Marketing Strategist roles common or does USCIS frequently issue RFEs?
Marketing occupations receive Requests for Evidence more often than technical roles because USCIS questions whether a specific degree is genuinely required. Approval rates improve significantly when the employer documents a clear connection between the degree and the job duties, and when the role involves analytical or strategic responsibilities rather than general marketing coordination. Working with an experienced immigration attorney substantially reduces RFE risk for this occupation.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Digital Marketing Strategist jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
