How to Get Visa Sponsorship in Head Of Partnerships
Target companies with established visa sponsorship track records
Large tech, SaaS, and media companies sponsor Head of Partnerships roles far more consistently than early-stage startups. Prioritize employers with dedicated HR teams who have navigated business development visa petitions before.
Frame your network as a business asset in applications
Sponsoring employers need to justify the petition cost. Quantify your existing partner relationships, channel revenue generated, and deal volume closed. Concrete numbers make the specialty occupation argument significantly stronger for USCIS.
Understand why this role qualifies as a specialty occupation
Head of Partnerships requires a theoretical and practical application of business, strategic management, or marketing knowledge. A bachelor's degree in a related field is typically the standard entry requirement, satisfying H-1B specialty occupation criteria.
L-1A is a strong alternative if you're transferring within a company
If you currently hold a managerial Partnerships role at a multinational company, an intracompany L-1A transfer avoids the H-1B lottery entirely. This path is especially viable for candidates moving from a foreign affiliate to a U.S. office.
O-1B is worth exploring if you have documented industry recognition
Published features, keynote speaking engagements, industry awards, or board memberships can support an O-1 petition. This visa has no cap or lottery, making it a viable path for senior partnership professionals with measurable external recognition.
Negotiate sponsorship early and explicitly in the offer stage
Many employers sponsor visas but don't advertise it upfront. Raise sponsorship as a clear requirement before accepting any offer, and confirm the employer has used immigration counsel before. Late-stage surprises on sponsorship cost employers significantly.

Get Access To All JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Can a Head of Partnerships role qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
Yes. Head of Partnerships qualifies as an H-1B specialty occupation when the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, strategic management, or a related field. USCIS scrutinizes business roles more heavily than STEM roles, so the job description must clearly articulate the theoretical and practical knowledge required, not just list responsibilities.
What degree do I need for a Head of Partnerships visa sponsorship?
Most employers require a bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, communications, or a related field. Some positions accept degrees in adjacent disciplines if your experience directly maps to the role. A general studies or unrelated degree can create H-1B petition complications, so aligning your credentials to the specific job description matters.
Where can I find Head of Partnerships jobs that offer visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lists Head of Partnerships roles filtered specifically for visa sponsorship eligibility, so you're not manually screening hundreds of postings. Companies actively sponsoring these roles tend to be growth-stage or enterprise SaaS businesses, digital media companies, and platforms with large partner ecosystems.
Is it harder to get H-1B sponsorship for a Partnerships role versus an engineering role?
Yes, in practice. USCIS approves business and management roles at lower rates than STEM-focused positions because the specialty occupation threshold is harder to establish. Employers should document that the role requires specialized business knowledge, ideally supported by a job description that references strategic frameworks, data-driven partner analysis, or industry-specific expertise.
Can I switch employers on an H-1B and keep my Head of Partnerships title?
Yes, through H-1B portability. Once your initial petition has been approved and you've been in valid H-1B status, you can start working for a new sponsoring employer as soon as they file a transfer petition, without waiting for approval. The new employer must file Form I-129 and the role must still qualify as a specialty occupation.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Head Of Partnerships jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
