Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Jobs
Target Children's Hospitals and Health Systems
Large pediatric hospitals like Boston Children's, Cincinnati Children's, and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia regularly sponsor international nurses. These institutions have established immigration teams and ongoing visa programs.
Emphasize Your Specialized Training
USCIS requires proof that pediatric nursing is a specialty occupation. Highlight your pediatric-specific degree, certifications, and training programs that differ from general nursing practice.
Get CPNP Certification Before Applying
The Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner credential from PNCB strengthens your specialty occupation case and makes employers more confident about sponsoring your visa application.
Research State Licensing Requirements
Each state has different nursing license requirements for international graduates. Some require CGFNS certification or additional coursework. Factor licensing timelines into your job search strategy.
Apply to Residency and Fellowship Programs
Many pediatric nurse practitioner residency programs at major health systems sponsor J-1 visas for international participants, providing a direct pathway to sponsored employment afterward.
Consider Rural and Underserved Areas
Health Professional Shortage Areas offer additional visa options like Conrad 30 waivers for J-1 holders and may have employers more willing to sponsor due to staffing needs.

Find Pediatric Nurse Practitioner JobsFrequently Asked Questions
What degree do I need for visa sponsorship as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner?
You need a Master's degree in nursing with pediatric specialization or a pediatric nurse practitioner program. Your degree must be from an accredited institution, and international degrees typically require credential evaluation through CGFNS or similar organizations to demonstrate U.S. equivalency for visa purposes.
How to find Pediatric Nurse Practitioner jobs with visa sponsorship?
To find Pediatric Nurse Practitioner jobs with visa sponsorship, use Migrate Mate, which specializes in connecting healthcare professionals with sponsoring employers. Focus on children's hospitals, pediatric clinics, and healthcare systems that commonly sponsor H-1B, TN, or EB-3 visas for specialized nursing roles. These employers often need pediatric expertise and are willing to sponsor qualified international candidates.
Do hospitals commonly sponsor visas for Pediatric Nurse Practitioners?
Yes, major children's hospitals and health systems frequently sponsor pediatric nurse practitioners due to nationwide shortages. Large institutions like Boston Children's, Cincinnati Children's, and Texas Children's Hospital have established immigration programs and regularly file H-1B, E-3, and TN petitions for qualified international nurses.
Can I get TN visa sponsorship as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner?
Canadian and Mexican citizens can qualify for TN status under the 'Registered Nurse' category, but you must hold an unrestricted license in any U.S. state or province. The TN doesn't require specialty education like the H-1B, making it easier for pediatric nurses to qualify.
What's the approval rate for H-1B petitions for Pediatric Nurse Practitioners?
Healthcare occupations, including pediatric nursing, have consistently high H-1B approval rates above 85%. USCIS recognizes nursing specialties as qualifying occupations, and the demand for pediatric care supports the specialty occupation requirement. Denials usually involve degree-job match issues rather than the occupation itself.
Do I need NCLEX certification before visa sponsorship?
Not necessarily for the visa petition itself, but most employers require NCLEX-RN passage and state licensure before starting work. You can apply for jobs and begin the visa process while preparing for NCLEX, but you'll need the license before your start date. Some employers may sponsor while you're completing licensing requirements.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Pediatric Nurse Practitioner jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
