INTRODUCTION
Jasper is the leading AI marketing platform, enabling the world's most innovative companies to reimagine their end-to-end marketing workflows and drive higher ROI through increased brand consistency, efficiency, and personalization at scale. Jasper has been recognized as "one of the Top 15 Most Innovative AI Companies of 2024" by Fast Company and is trusted by nearly 20% of the Fortune 500 – including Prudential, Ulta Beauty, and Wayfair. Founded in 2021, Jasper is a remote-first organization with team members across the US, France, and Australia.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As Director of Product Design at Jasper, you will lead a small, fast-moving design team and define how marketers work with AI. This is a player-coach role for someone who has built and grown high-performing design teams without losing their own obsession with craft — the weight of a typeface, the rhythm of an interaction, the clarity of an information hierarchy — and who leads from the front in a new, AI-native way of building. You won't just direct the work; you'll be in it: prototyping, vibe coding, and shipping alongside the team. This role carries three things at its core. First, you'll guide the design strategy of Jasper and help define the future of how enterprise marketing teams use AI. You'll set the vision for what our product feels like to use and make the calls that shape where design takes the company. As our design leader, you'll maintain the highest standards of visual and interaction design across the product, with the kind of polish and consistency that enterprise customers paying six and seven figures expect. As a member of the EPD leadership team, you will also work alongside Product and Engineering leaders to keep evolving how we build software with AI. Jasper has already aggressively evolved how we use AI to build software, and we want to keep accelerating. On the design side, that means exploring emerging ways to use Cursor, Claude Code and Claude Design, operationalizing design-to-front-end pipelines, and setting up our design system and context to improve the ability of coding agents to use the right components and follow the right design patterns. This fully remote role reports to the Chief Product Officer and is open to candidates located anywhere in the continental US.
WHAT YOU WILL DO AT JASPER
- Own and guide the design strategy for Jasper, setting the vision for how enterprise marketing teams will work with AI and making the design calls that shape where the product and company go
- Maintain the highest standards of visual and interaction design across the product. Set and raise the bar on every surface, holding the line on polish and consistency that enterprise customers paying six and seven figures expect
- Lead a small, high-velocity design team as a player-coach — coaching and upleveling designers while staying deeply hands-on, prototyping and vibe coding with tools like Cursor and Claude Code and shipping real work to production
- As a member of the EPD leadership team, work alongside Product and Engineering leaders to keep evolving how Jasper builds software with AI
- Accelerate, innovate, and define AI-first ways of designing and AI-first design-to-front-end pipelines, pioneering how prototypes go from concept to working, production-ready code
- Extend Jasper's design system and the context and skills our coding agents rely on
- Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to define the problems worth solving and shape roadmaps that deliver on customer outcomes
- Build a high-trust, inclusive, feedback-driven design culture that values autonomy, learning, and accountability
- Establish and run the team's craft rituals — design critiques and reviews — that elevate quality and develop designers
- Coach and support designers in their career growth, fostering both craft and leadership development
- Play a key role in hiring, onboarding, and scaling the design organization as the team grows
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO JASPER
- 8+ years of product design experience, with a portfolio that demonstrates exceptional visual design craft and strong end-to-end product thinking
- 4+ years leading and managing design teams, with a track record of building and developing high-performing, high-craft teams in a high-growth SaaS or product-led environment
- A genuine player-coach: you can lead and uplevel a team and you remain proficient and hands-on yourself — equally comfortable coaching a designer and shipping the work
- Demonstrated experience building AI-first design workflows and design-to-front-end pipelines — you have hands-on fluency with AI-native and vibe coding tools (e.g. Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot, v0) and can point to real work you've shipped to production. This is non-negotiable at Jasper
- Proven ability to build and own a coherent, well-governed design system — you sweat the details and hold the bar so experiences feel consistent across every surface, the way enterprise buyers expect
- Outstanding UI and visual design judgment — a refined eye for typography, colour, layout, spacing, and hierarchy, and the ability to hold the team to it
- Working knowledge of front-end code (HTML, CSS, React/JSX) and fluency with modern design tools (Figma) — you can read, review, and riff in code when needed
- Experience designing for AI-native or AI-augmented products, with an understanding of the unique UX challenges they present (non-deterministic outputs, prompt interfaces, copilot patterns, trust and transparency)
- Background in B2B or enterprise SaaS, ideally at an AI-native company or one that has strongly pivoted to AI; go-to-market or marketing-adjacent product experience is a plus
- A pragmatist's mindset: you balance design ideals with business reality, shipping velocity, and engineering constraints without sacrificing quality
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate design rationale and influence across technical and business stakeholders, including leadership

Frame your portfolio around business outcomes
Visa officers and hiring managers both want evidence of impact. Show how your design decisions reduced churn, increased conversion, or improved retention. Quantified results make your petition stronger and your application more competitive.
Target companies with established design orgs
Larger product teams have HR and legal infrastructure to handle sponsorship efficiently. Companies with dedicated design leads, design systems, and multiple product squads are far more likely to sponsor than early-stage startups with no immigration precedent.
Clarify your degree field early in conversations
H-1B specialty occupation requires a degree in a directly related field. HCI, graphic design, interaction design, and industrial design all qualify. A general arts degree may require additional documentation showing relevance to the specific role.
Prepare for a portfolio review at the offer stage
Senior design roles almost always include a portfolio presentation before an offer is extended. Have case studies ready that walk through your design process end to end, not just final screens. This is where senior-level judgment gets assessed.
Understand the difference between staff and senior
Some companies post senior and staff design roles interchangeably. Staff typically carries more cross-functional scope and higher sponsorship priority. Clarify the level before applying so your resume and case studies are positioned at the right seniority.
Use Migrate Mate to filter for sponsoring employers
Not every company that posts a senior design role is willing to sponsor. Migrate Mate surfaces jobs from employers with verified sponsorship history, saving you from wasting applications on companies that will decline at the offer stage.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Senior Product Design role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B?
Yes, senior product design roles typically qualify as specialty occupations because the position normally requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as interaction design, HCI, or graphic design. USCIS looks at whether the degree requirement is standard for the role across the industry, which it is at the senior level. Roles that accept any degree regardless of field can face RFEs, so the job description wording matters.
What degrees qualify for H-1B sponsorship in senior product design?
Degrees in interaction design, human-computer interaction, graphic design, industrial design, visual communication, and cognitive science with a design focus all support H-1B visa petitions for senior product design roles. A general fine arts degree may qualify but can require a stronger showing that the curriculum was directly related to the position. USCIS evaluates the degree field against the specific duties of the role, not just the job title.
Can Australian designers use the E-3 visa for senior product design jobs?
Yes. Senior product design is a strong fit for the E-3 visa, which is available exclusively to Australian citizens. The role qualifies as a specialty occupation under the same standards as H-1B, the employer files a Labor Condition Application, and there is no annual cap or lottery. E-3 is renewable indefinitely in two-year increments, making it a practical long-term option for Australians building a design career in the United States.
How competitive is H-1B sponsorship for product designers compared to engineering roles?
Product design roles are sponsored less frequently than software engineering roles in raw numbers, but the H-1B lottery odds are identical regardless of job function. The bigger variable is employer willingness. Large tech companies such as Google, Apple, Meta, and Amazon sponsor senior designers regularly. Smaller companies may hesitate due to legal costs or unfamiliarity with the process. Browse Migrate Mate to find employers with a documented history of sponsoring design roles specifically.
Can experience substitute for a design degree when applying for H-1B sponsorship?
In some cases, yes. USCIS allows three years of specialized work experience to substitute for one year of formal education, so extensive hands-on experience can bridge a degree gap. However, this approach adds complexity to the petition and typically requires a detailed evaluation letter from a credential evaluator. It is more straightforward when the applicant holds at least an associate degree plus substantial relevant experience, rather than no degree at all.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Senior Product Design jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
