How to Get Visa Sponsorship in Supply Chain Planning
Lead with your technical stack
Employers sponsoring supply chain planners want candidates who know SAP, Oracle, or Kinaxis. Listing these tools prominently signals you can contribute immediately, which makes the sponsorship investment easier to justify internally.
Target companies with existing LCA filings
Companies that have previously filed Labor Condition Applications for supply chain roles have an established process. Searching Migrate Mate filters for employers already sponsoring this job category, saving you from approaching cold companies.
Frame your degree field carefully
Supply chain planning typically requires a degree in supply chain management, industrial engineering, operations research, or a related quantitative field. A general business degree alone may not satisfy the specialty occupation standard without supporting coursework documentation.
Emphasize forecasting and data skills
Demand forecasting, inventory optimization, and S&OP experience strengthen the specialty occupation argument in your petition. These functions require specialized analytical training, which distinguishes your role from generalist operations work that sponsors find harder to defend.
Ask about cap-exempt employers early
Universities, nonprofit research institutions, and certain government contractors are H-1B cap-exempt, meaning they can file year-round without lottery risk. Supply chain and procurement roles exist at these organizations and are often overlooked by candidates.
Prepare documentation of specialized responsibilities
If your role involves statistical modeling, ERP configuration, or network optimization, document it clearly. USCIS scrutinizes supply chain petitions more than some fields, and a detailed position description tied to your degree is your strongest defense.

Get Access To All JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Do supply chain planning jobs commonly get H-1B sponsorship?
Yes, though approval rates vary by how the role is defined. Titles like Supply Chain Analyst, Demand Planning Manager, and S&OP Analyst have strong H-1B approval histories when tied to a quantitative degree. Generic titles like Supply Chain Coordinator attract more USCIS scrutiny because the specialty occupation argument is weaker. Roles requiring ERP systems, statistical forecasting, or optimization modeling are the most defensible. Browse sponsored roles by title on Migrate Mate to identify which companies are actively filing.
What degree do I need for a sponsored supply chain planning role?
Most sponsored positions require at least a bachelor's degree in supply chain management, industrial engineering, operations research, logistics, or a closely related quantitative field. An MBA with a supply chain concentration can work for senior roles. A general business administration degree may qualify if your transcript shows substantial coursework in quantitative methods, statistics, or operations. USCIS evaluates whether the specific degree is normally required for the position, not just preferred.
Can I get E-3 sponsorship as an Australian in supply chain planning?
Yes. Supply chain planning qualifies as a specialty occupation under E-3 requirements, provided the role requires a relevant bachelor's degree and your employer files a certified Labor Condition Application. Australian three-year degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree for this purpose. The E-3 has no lottery and can be filed year-round, making it significantly more accessible than the H-1B for the same roles.
How hard is it to get an H-1B approved for a supply chain planning role?
Approval depends heavily on job title and how the employer documents the position. Analytical and planning-heavy roles with clear degree requirements have solid approval histories. Roles framed as coordination or logistics support face higher denial rates because USCIS may find the specialty occupation threshold unmet. In FY2024, operations-related H-1B petitions had approval rates above 80% when petitioned by established employers with detailed job descriptions. Having an immigration attorney draft the LCA job description specifically matters here.
Which employers sponsor supply chain planning roles most often?
Large manufacturers, retailers, and technology companies with global supply chains are the most consistent sponsors. Companies like Amazon, Apple, and major consumer goods firms regularly file LCAs for demand planners and supply chain analysts. Consulting firms such as Accenture and Deloitte also sponsor supply chain roles for project-based work. To find currently active sponsoring employers in this category without guessing, search supply chain planning positions directly on Migrate Mate.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Supply Chain Planning jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
