Summary
Creates, develops, writes, edits, reviews, and maintains engineering and manufacturing documentation for X-ray tube products and processes, including work instructions, routers, BOMs, production documentation, test procedures, validation-related records, and ECO support materials. Works closely with engineers, technicians, production teams, document control, quality, and other cross-functional stakeholders to gather technical information, translate it into clear controlled documentation, and ensure documentation consistency, accuracy, completeness, and readiness for approval. Supports documentation quality across the engineering group.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Creates, develops, writes, edits, and maintains operational, instructional, manufacturing, and test procedures for X-ray tube products
- Updates and supports controlled documentation including work instructions, routers, BOMs, production schedules, product documentation, process documentation, redlines, and ECO submission materials
- Reviews engineering and manufacturing documents prior to approval submission to ensure accuracy, completeness, consistency, and alignment with company documentation and quality standards. Provides feedback as needed.
- Conducts interviews and collaborates with engineers, technicians, production personnel, quality, document control, and other technical staff to gather information needed for documentation
- Researches and translates technical information into clear documents for both technical and nontechnical users
- Supports development of new X-ray products, manufacturing equipment, and processes by documenting test results, process steps, and validation-related activities
- Provides documentation to assist with manufacturing new products or assemblies and to support smooth transitions from engineering to production
- Supports ECO activities by preparing or reviewing redlines, descriptions of change, reasons for change, affected documentation, risk analysis, and supporting information for BOMs, routers, work instructions, and related controlled documents
- Recommends documentation formats and improvements that respond to technical, manufacturing, quality, customer, and regulatory requirements
- Assists with documentation related to product obsolescence and routine engineering documentation updates as assigned
- Trains or supports training of production personnel on manufacturing documentation and process changes as needed
Preferred Experience/Skills/Knowledge
- Strong technical writing, editing, and document review skills with the ability to communicate clearly with technical and nontechnical audiences
- Experience creating, revising, or maintaining work instructions, routers, BOMs, test procedures, manufacturing procedures, validation-related documentation, product documentation, or other controlled engineering documents
- Experience supporting ECOs, redlines, change control workflows, document approvals, and documentation release processes
- Understanding of manufacturing process techniques and demonstrated experience supporting research and development activities to bring new products from initial stages into production
- Experience with SAP or other ERP systems to build, update, review, or utilize BOMs, routers, and other manufacturing information
- Knowledge of document control practices, quality management system expectations, and company documentation standards for controlled manufacturing documents
- Ability to interview engineers, technicians, production personnel, and other subject matter experts to gather and organize technical information
- Experience with regulated manufacturing environments and manufacturing documentation is beneficial
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to collaborate with co-workers of different technical levels
- Proficient in utilizing business tools such as: E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP product and productivity software desired
Typical Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or a related technical field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Typically requires 2 - 4 years of related technical writing, engineering documentation, document control, manufacturing documentation, or equivalent experience.

- Medium work that will occasionally require employee to lift/move up to 20 lbs. and occasionally lift more than 10 lbs to greater than 20 lbs
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or moving heavy equipment and/or supplies occasionally
- Reaching above the shoulder occasionally
- Above-average agility and dexterity with the ability to hold, grasp and manipulate small parts and use hand and power tools occasionally
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and handle physical exertion, such as long periods of standing, walking, bending, crouching, stretching, reaching, repetitive motion, or similar activities
- Work environments include exposure to chemicals, electrical current, proximity to moving mechanical parts, repetitive hand motion, typing
