Writer Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a writer in Florida?
Writing is not a state-licensed profession in Florida, so there is no Florida-specific credential or exam required to work as a writer. Most Florida employers expect at minimum a bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, or marketing. Building a strong portfolio of published or professional samples is the most direct path to landing roles, and completing internships at Florida media outlets, agencies, or corporate communications departments significantly strengthens a candidate's standing.
Which companies hire writers in Florida?
Companies currently hiring writers in Florida include Walmart, Mondelēz International, and Whole Foods Market, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Florida's mix of large entertainment, healthcare, and media employers means openings appear across a wide range of industries and content types.
Which Florida cities have the most writer jobs?
Tampa, Orlando, and Jacksonville have the most writer openings in Florida. Miami's concentration of advertising agencies, multilingual media companies, and corporate headquarters drives the heaviest demand, while Tampa's growing tech sector and Orlando's entertainment and healthcare industries sustain strong and consistent hiring for writers at all levels.
Are there remote writer jobs in Florida?
Yes, and more than most fields. Writing is one of the more remote-compatible professions, and about 21% of writer openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how naturally the work translates to distributed teams. Content writing, copywriting, and technical writing roles are the most consistently offered as fully remote positions.
How can I get hired as a writer in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is securing an internship at a Florida media outlet, advertising agency, or corporate communications department and converting that into a full-time role. Large Florida employers like AdventHealth and Walt Disney Parks and Resorts run structured communications and content internship programs that place candidates without professional experience. Entry roles often carry titles like editorial assistant, content coordinator, or junior copywriter, and candidates who transition from adjacent roles in marketing, public relations, or social media management are consistently competitive.
Where can I find and apply to writer jobs in Florida?
You can find and apply to writer jobs in Florida on Migrate Mate, which lists current Florida openings across industries and experience levels. Search the available roles, find the ones that fit your background and interests, and apply directly through each listing.
