Video Editor Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a video editor in Florida?
Video editing in Florida requires no state-issued license or certification, so the path centers on education and demonstrated skill. Most Florida employers expect at least an associate or bachelor's degree in film production, digital media, or communications, with programs at schools like Full Sail University in Winter Park and the University of Central Florida widely recognized by local employers. A strong demo reel and proficiency in industry-standard software are the practical requirements that open doors.
How much do video editors make in Florida?
Video editors in Florida earn a median of about $60,430 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $47,830 for the lowest 10% to over $104,810 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire video editors in Florida?
Employers hiring video editors in Florida right now include Betr, Chewy, and ZimVie, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Florida's concentration of entertainment studios, Spanish-language media networks, and sports franchises means demand is spread across a wider range of production environments than in most other states.
Which Florida cities have the most video editor jobs?
Miami, Florida, and Doral have the most video editor openings in Florida. Miami leads because of its dense cluster of advertising agencies, Spanish-language broadcast networks, and international media companies, while Orlando is driven by theme park entertainment production and a large digital content sector, and Tampa draws from its growing sports media and marketing agency scene.
Are there remote video editor jobs in Florida?
Yes, and more than many fields. About 25% of video editor openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the fact that post-production work is largely software-based and does not require a physical set. Editing for digital content, social media, and advertising tends to offer the most remote flexibility, while broadcast news and live-event production roles are more likely to require on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a video editor in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an assistant editor or production assistant role, which large Florida employers like local TV stations, theme park entertainment divisions, and advertising agencies use to bring in junior talent. Full Sail University and the University of Central Florida both have employer partnership programs that place recent graduates in entry-level production roles. A polished demo reel built from student projects, freelance work, or volunteer productions with local nonprofits or sports organizations is the credential that most consistently moves candidates past the no-experience barrier.
Where can I find and apply to video editor jobs in Florida?
You can find and apply to video editor jobs in Florida on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring across the state. Search the listings for roles that match your experience level and specialization, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
