Accountant Jobs in Charlotte: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a accountant job in Charlotte?
Focus your search on Charlotte's dominant sectors: banking and financial services in Uptown, corporate headquarters in Ballantyne, and regional professional services firms in South End and the University area. Candidates who stand out typically have experience with financial close cycles, ERP systems like SAP or Oracle, and CPA credentials or active candidacy. Networking through the Charlotte chapter of the IMA or NCACPA events also opens doors that job boards alone don't.
Which companies hire accountants in Charlotte?
Companies currently hiring accountants in Charlotte include Duke Energy, Talcott Financial, and Highspring, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Charlotte's mix of major bank headquarters, regional insurers, and a growing roster of corporate shared-service centers makes it one of the Southeast's most active markets for accounting talent across both public and private sector employers.
Are there remote accountant jobs in Charlotte?
Yes, though availability depends on the role: analytical and reporting-focused accountant positions tend to offer remote or hybrid options, while roles tied to physical inventory, facilities, or in-person financial operations are typically on-site. About 89% of accountant openings tied to Charlotte are remote or hybrid as of September 2026. General ledger, financial reporting, and FP&A roles within Charlotte's large corporate finance centers are the most likely to offer flexible arrangements.
How can I get a accountant job in Charlotte with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Charlotte is through staff accountant or accounting associate roles at regional CPA firms, mid-size manufacturers, or the large financial institutions that maintain shared-service centers in the Ballantyne and University City corridors. Charlotte employers frequently promote from within, so starting in accounts payable or receivable is a common lateral move into full accounting roles. Proficiency in Excel and exposure to any major ERP system, even from coursework, gives early-career candidates a measurable edge locally.
Which industries hire the most accountants in Charlotte?
Charlotte accountant roles concentrate in Telecommunications and Consulting & Professional Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Charlotte's standing as the second-largest banking center in the country, combined with a dense cluster of corporate headquarters and regional professional services firms, keeps consistent demand for accountants well above what comparably sized metros see.
