Focus your search on the Loop, Streeterville, and River North, where Chicago's legal firms, financial institutions, and corporate headquarters cluster. Healthcare systems anchored in the Medical District and Streeterville also hire heavily. Candidates who combine proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace with experience in calendar management and travel coordination stand out. Targeting mid-size professional services firms and nonprofit organizations in Chicago's neighborhoods can also open doors faster than pursuing large corporations.

Chicago's mix of global financial firms, major law offices, university systems, and large healthcare networks means demand comes from a wide range of employer types across the city.
Are there remote administrative assistant jobs in Chicago?
Yes, though remote availability depends heavily on the role. Desk-based and analytical administrative work such as scheduling, correspondence, and data entry can go remote, while roles tied to in-person office operations typically cannot. About 60% of administrative assistant openings tied to Chicago are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with hybrid arrangements most common among Chicago's corporate and tech-adjacent employers in the Loop and West Loop.
How can I get a administrative assistant job in Chicago with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Chicago is targeting temp-to-hire placements through staffing firms that serve the Loop's legal and financial sectors, which regularly bring on candidates with limited formal experience. Entry-level receptionist, office coordinator, and executive assistant trainee roles at Chicago's mid-size nonprofits, healthcare clinics, and educational institutions also hire for potential over experience. Familiarity with scheduling software and a polished professional presentation sharpen your edge in Chicago's competitive downtown market.
