Duties

• Develop and optimize ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines to facilitate efficient data ingestion from various sources such as AWS, Azure Data Lake, and on-premises databases like Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server.
• Design and implement robust data models and schemas using dimensional modeling techniques for data warehousing solutions.
• Build and maintain large-scale big data systems utilizing Hadoop, Spark, Apache Hive, and other open-source tools to process vast datasets effectively.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate linked data and semantic web technologies for enhanced data connectivity and discovery.
• Develop RESTful APIs and automate workflows using shell scripting (Bash), Python, VBA, and other scripting languages to streamline data operations.
• Support model training and analytics initiatives by providing clean, well-structured datasets and insights through business intelligence tools like Looker.
• Ensure compliance with best practices in cloud database management, query optimization, and data security within public cloud environments such as AWS and Azure.

Experience

• Proven experience in software development with a focus on data engineering or platform development in cloud-based environments.
• Strong knowledge of big data systems including Hadoop ecosystem components (HDFS, Hive), Spark, and related technologies.
• Hands-on expertise with SQL databases such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, cloud databases like Azure Data Lake or similar platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to design scalable ETL pipelines using tools like Informatica or Talend for efficient data integration.
• Familiarity with business intelligence tools such as Looker or equivalent for creating dashboards and reports that support decision-making.
• Proficiency in programming languages including Java, Python, Bash scripting, and experience with RESTful API development.
• Experience working within Agile methodologies to deliver iterative solutions rapidly while maintaining high quality standards.
• Strong analytical skills combined with a solid understanding of database design principles, data modeling techniques (including dimensional modeling), and query management strategies.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
